SI.com is reporting that Cuauhtemoc Blanco, a legendary Mexican striker who was dropped from the national team by former coach Ricardo LaVolpe prior to Germany 2006 (but has subsequently returned to the squad under Hugo Sanchez) is close to a contract with the Chicago Fire.
