It'll be interesting to see who Bradley starts in this one. i felt that 10 of the starting 11 for the Guatemala game were pretty obvious (Twellman being the only exception), but with the short rest (only 1 full day after a very physical game in which the US had to finish with 10 players), […]

WOW! The Home Depot Center was rocking last night. The atmosphere was great as many of the 21,344 in attendance were on their feet throughout the game. Unfortunately most of the crowd was in the powder-blue and white of Guatemala, but the spread-out USA fans gave some good cheers. USA came out in a formation […]

First, some general thoughts…>That wasn’t pretty (it never will be against Guatemala), but it’s 3 points. I think the team did a nice job holding on to the result after Gooch was sent-off. Several guys had to move around in the readjustment after the red-card (Hejduk to center back for a few minutes, Ralston to […]

Scratch my half time comment on Gooch. His poor form for Newcastle returned in the two bonehead plays he made to be sent off. The US players need to become mentally tougher. Guatemala now has twice in three months given CONCACAF countries a blueprint for beating the US. Cheap shots and rough play are part […]

Great finish by Dempsey for the goal I'm not sure how many bad clearances Carlos Bocanegra has to make before US coaches begin to look at other options at left center back. I don't care how many goals Bocanegra scores for Fulham, he just is too inaccurate when clearing the ball to be on the […]

T&T's 2006 World Cup Team won't be seen in LA this weekend (With quotes from the June 7th edition of the Boston Globe) The "Soca Warriors" were one of the stories of World Cup 2006. Trinidad and Tobago was the smallest nation ever to qualify for the World Cup, and they inspired us all. After […]

(Includes Quotes from the Boston Globe, June 7th edition) The "Soca Warriors" were one of the stories of World Cup 2006. 1. Although he played well against a weak China side, Gooch is still kind of worrying me. Now that my heady notion that he would be here to anchor the US backfield through the 2010 World Cup and even beyond is gone and I saw is first experience in a top-4 domestic league not go […]

/ 6892 days agoGold Cup will tell us a lot about the state of US Soccer
Nearly one year removed from the United States’ disastrous start to the 2006 World Cup, American soccer faces a plethora of challenges this summer which will tell as much about the direction of American soccer as last summer’s early exit in Germany. In the 2006 World Cup, American soccer fans were brought to the somewhat […]

Group A of the 2007 Gold Cup could be the most competitive of all the groups based on tonight's action. The weather here in south Florida didn't help the playing conditions, but all four teams played up to their potential. Canada who I think is now has the third best team in the region showed […]

/ 6893 days agoGold Cup Daily: Guadeloupe worth keeping an eye on
Call me crazy, but I have a hunch Guadeloupe who qualified for their first ever Gold Cup could be dangerous in a somewhat weak group based in Miami. Costa Rica has a squad in transition and Haiti's team lacks depth and experience. I like Canada to win Group A, but believe that Guadeloupe could sneak […]
