
<p>Arsenal have reportedly agreed a fee with Brighton &amp; Hove for Leandro Trossard. David Ornstein of <a href="https://theathletic.com/4107140/2023/01/19/arsenal-leandro-trossard-transfer-latest/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><em>The Athletic</em></a> claims that the total fee, including add-ons, is in the $33 million range. Not including add-ons, the base transfer fee for the player will be about $25 million. The deal by the Gunners moved quickly, as news only broke about the negotiations surfaced early Thursday morning.</p>

<p>The Premier League leaders needed to act fairly quickly in their recruitment after missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk last week. <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/arsenal-tv-schedule/">Arsenal</a> were negotiating a fee for the Ukrainian with Shakhtar Donetsk for quite some time. However, <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/chelsea-tv-schedule/">Chelsea</a> swooped in and quickly agreed a fee for Mudryk potentially rising to $108 million.</p>



<h2>Leandro Trossard gives Arsenal more options</h2>



<p>Plan B for Arsenal doesn’t appear to be a bad one. Trossard is a proven Premier League player currently in the prime of his career. The 28-year-old has scored seven goals, while also adding three assists in 16 top flight matches so far this season. He also netted eight goals with the Seagulls last campaign as well.</p>



<p>Although perhaps not a marquee signing like Mudryk, the Belgium international gives the Gunners much-needed depth. Dynamic and versatile, Trossard can play on the left flank, as an attacking midfielder more centrally, and even as a number nine. Arsenal obviously have a very solid starting XI, but squad depth is a bit of an issue.</p>



<h5>Star winger will benefit from Trossard signing</h5>



<p>The Belgian can now fill in for players such as Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, and Gabriel Jesus/Eddie Nketiah. Trossard will most likely be utilized on the left flank for manager Mikel Arteta. </p>



<p>Martinelli, typically deployed in this position, has started every single league match during the current campaign. In fact, he’s played at least 70 minutes in all but one top flight match this season. The young Brazilian could benefit from a bit of a break at times.</p>

<p>The fairly economical move by Arsenal also potentially allows the club to spend more in midfield this summer. Recent <a href="https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/declan-rice-arsenal-make-80m-midfielder-top-summer-target-npjgh09hz" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reports</a> have suggested that the Gunners are targeting Declan Rice during the summer window. A move for the star West Ham midfielder could cost around $95 million.</p>

<p>Leandro Trossard, as relayed by his agent, wants to leave Brighton after a series of incidents with the club. The agent for the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/nations/belgium-national-team-tv-schedule/">Belgium</a> international released a statement on Friday to <em><a href="https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12785852/leandro-trossard-roberto-de-zerbi-confirms-beligium-forward-will-not-play-for-brighton-against-liverpool-due-to-attitude-and-behaviour-issues" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sky Sports</a></em>. </p>



<p>“Before Leandro left for Qatar, it was Brighton’s intention to extend his contract, this did not happen as parties did not reach an agreement. Leandro has also indicated he is ready for his next step,” <a href="https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12785852/leandro-trossard-roberto-de-zerbi-confirms-beligium-forward-will-not-play-for-brighton-against-liverpool-due-to-attitude-and-behaviour-issues" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">stated</a> Trossard’s agent Josy Comhair.</p>



<h5>Trossard’s agent details incidents</h5>



<p>“After the World Cup there was an altercation at training between Leandro and another player over an inanity. Since then, the trainer has not spoken to Leandro, which is obviously not conducive to the atmosphere, as well as performance-wise.”</p>



<p>“In the run-up to the match against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, Leandro had already reported calf problems twice. This was the reason he stopped training. This was in consultation with the medical staff.”</p>

<p>“Through the physical trainer, Leandro learned that he had to train separately. Last Monday the trainer then grounded Leandro in the group and indicated that he did not want to see him anymore. A trainer who has not communicated directly with his player for four weeks is truly incomprehensible.”</p>



<p>“It is also the trainer who has indicated several times that a transfer is the most reasonable solution,” Comhair continued. “It is therefore important that Brighton cooperates with a potential transfer, which is beneficial for both parties”</p>



<h5>Brighton coach bans player for next match</h5>



<p>Revelations by the agent comes just hours after Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that Trossard would not play at the weekend. “Leandro isn’t in the list of the players for tomorrow,” De Zerbi <a href="https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/64267013" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">said</a> in a press conference on Friday.</p>



<p>“Leandro knows very well my opinion. The last training session before the Middlesbrough game, when he understood he wouldn’t play, he left the session without saying anything to me and it’s not good,” continued the coach.</p>



<p>“On Monday, I spoke with him and I explained I don’t like this attitude, this behavior.”</p>



<p>“He knows very well if he wants to play with Brighton with me, he has to work hard, he has to run, he has to be in the right way because we are not a big team, a Real Madrid, Barcelona or another big, big team. We are Brighton and we need players who work like the other players.”</p>



<h2>Trossard leaves country after Brighton drops midfielderr</h2>



<p><em><a href="https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1720962/Leandro-Trossard-transfer-saga-Brighton-Liverpool-axe-Tottenham-news" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Express Sport</a></em> reported that Trossard left the United Kingdom following De Zerbi’s decision. It is not yet known if Brighton cleared their star to depart the country or not. Trossard is believed to have returned to Belgium.</p>



<p>News of the fractured relationship comes at a rough time. Trossard has been one of Brighton’s standout players so far this season. His seven <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/premier-league-tv-schedule/">Premier League</a> goals lead the team. Brighton are also currently eighth in the table at the moment, just one point behind <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/liverpool-tv-schedule/">Liverpool</a>. The two teams face off on Saturday. Last time they played, Trossard scored a hat trick at Anfield to get Brighton a point. </p>

<p><a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/chelsea-tv-schedule/">Chelsea</a> and <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/tottenham-tv-schedule/">Tottenham Hotspur</a> have both been <a href="https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-trossard-edwards-lucas-moura-transfer-b1052490.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">linked</a> with a transfer for Trossard in recent weeks. A potential move by the Blues could be complicated as they just signed Joao Felix on loan. However, various injuries could force Chelsea to return for Trossard.</p>



<p>Spurs, on the other hand, could be the most logical destination for the Belgian. The north London outfit will need reinforcements to help capture a Champions League place. Fellow winger Lucas Moura will also be leaving Spurs soon, so bringing in an extra attacker would make sense for the club. </p>
