World Cup 2010: Spain Triumphs In A Match of Contrasting Styles

After Euro 2008, Vicente del Bosque took the reins of the Spanish national team from Luis Aragonés, the man that led Spain to their first international tournament conquest since 1964 when they hosted and won the second UEFA European Championships, known then as the European Nations' Cup. Aragonés' tactical style went completely away from former […]

Is Arsenal Still a Big Club?

At first glance, this question looks bleedingly obvious. With their massive fan base, a beautiful new 60,000 plus seat stadium, and their years of success and trophies, Arsenal should be quite clearly considered to be a "big club." For the past decade and more, they have been considered part of the so-called Big Four, along […]

So Cesc is off then. So long and thanks for all the skill, the vision and the bushy eyebrows. Is this an Arsenal crisis in the making? Wasn’t Wenger building that team around Fabregas? How can you replace a player as good as that? It takes a lot of money. But Wenger doesn’t like to […]

Vicente del Bosque Announces Spain's Provisional 30-Man Squad For FIFA World Cup 2010 Part Two

Yesterday, the goalkeeping and the defense were discussed, and while the three goalkeepers contending for the final goalkeeping spot will state their cases to Vicente del Bosque on and off the pitch, they will have little to no chance of participating in the World Cup. Why Arsenal's Season Has Not Been A Failure

So it looks as though that’s it for another year for Arsenal. Another trophy-less season. Wenger’s admirable faith in his side may have been slightly misplaced after all. They’re not far away from being winners but not close enough. But does it really matter? You’ll read and hear a lot about how many years it’s […]

Barcelona, We Meet Again

Since I'm new at EPL Talk, I'd like to talk a little bit more (before I discuss Wednesday's match) about my history as an Arsenal fan. Slowly becoming a soccer fan in college, a 2006 trip to Europe with my girlfriend really cemented my love of the Gunners. Arriving in Paris just days before the Champions League Final, little did I know what would await me. The year before, I had been in Israel during the Liverpool-Milan game. Taking a cursory interest, I sat down with several Israelis who were screaming about how dominant Milan were. As everyone knows, it didn't end up that way. But it was enough to turn me into a soccer fan for life.

Premier League Form XI

The saying goes that ‘form is temporary but class is permanent' and on many levels this holds true, however such a huge part of professional sport is the mental aspect of the game, which at the highest level can be just as, if not more important than the physical aspect. With just 8 or 9 games remaining in the […]

The Day When Arsene Wenger's Boys Became Men

In the Jewish faith, the act of becoming a man at thirteen is a huge step. Standing before your family, friends, and the community as a whole, you are recognized as a full member of the community. For me as a Jew, that is the moment that I became a man. For most of you, […]

Arsenal 3-0 Aston Villa: Fabregas Makes a Statement, But At What Cost?

Cesc Fabregas came on as a second-half substitute to completely turn this game in Arsenal's favor by first scoring a sublime free kick from outside the area and second, by latching on to an exquisite Theo Walcott pass to secure all three points for the Gunners. But immediately after scoring the second goal, Fabregas pulled […]

Arsenal Beat Celtic 2-0 at Celtic Park, All But Assure Champions League Qualification

Arsenal beat Celtic 2-0 at Celtic Park, all but assuring their qualification for the Champions League group stages, with two away goals. It was not the presiding effort of their 6-1 away win at Everton, but the two deflected goals – from Gallas and Gary Caldwell's foot – fulfilled the requirement in what was arguably […]
