<p>Balotelli would add another name to the growing list of European superstars choosing to play in Saudi Arabia. <p>Mario Balotelli’s undeniable talent made him a top-level player for years, but his global reputation was also shaped by his eccentric behavior, which frequently made headlines for reasons unrelated to soccer.</p>



<p>During his time at Inter Milan, the forward was coached by <strong>Jose Mourinho</strong>, who led the team to the 2010 Champions League title. When asked about his relationship with Balotelli, the Portuguese coach described him as “<em><strong>unmanageable</strong></em>,” even though he used him in 40 matches that year.</p>



<p>“<em><strong>We had a good relationship, but our personalities were difficult to manage. <p>His recent stay in Saudi Arabia will come to a swift conclusion as a result. On Thursday, Henderson flew to Amsterdam to complete the transfer paperwork and get a medical clearance.</p>



<p>The midfielder has just been at Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq for six months as of July 2022. Nevertheless, it seems as if he will be returning to European soccer with the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/eredivisie-tv-schedule/">Eredivisie</a> giants.</p>

<p>Joining Al-Ettifaq in July for a major salary drew heavy criticism from many since it meant Henderson would be traveling to a nation that had a death penalty for homosexuality. In the past, the player had openly positioned himself as an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.</p>

Reports in the UK this morning indicate that the former <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/liverpool-tv-schedule/">Liverpool</a> captain has mutually agreed to terminate his current contract with Al Ettifaq. Henderson was earning over $800,000 per week in a three-year deal with the Saudi side. </p>



<p>The move will allow the 33-year-old midfielder to leave the club as a free agent. It also means that Al Ettifaq is not set to receive a transfer fee for the player. However, the Middle Eastern team will be free of Henderson’s massive weekly wages.</p>

The midfielder only just signed for Al Ettifaq in July under controversial circumstances. During his time with Liverpool, Henderson had strong ties to the Rainbow Laces campaign. The organization helps promote equality and diversity within soccer by providing players with special shoelaces.</p>



<p>Nevertheless, Saudi Arabia currently has intense laws against homosexuality. It is illegal in the Middle Eastern nation. Violators of the law may even face the death penalty if found guilty. As a result of Henderson’s move to the Saudi side, many human rights advocates felt betrayed by the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/nations/england-national-team-tv-schedule/">England</a> international.</p>



<p>Henderson, however, now looks set to depart Al Ettifaq after just six months. He managed to record four assists in 17 league matches with the club. The aforementioned news source goes on to claim that the midfielder is flying back to England on Wednesday after agreeing to tear up his contract. However, the midfielder would face a fairly significant tax issue if he rejoined an English club in 2024.</p>



<p>Current tax laws in the United Kingdom make people who leave the nation for work pay a 45% fee of what they earned, assuming they return within one year. There were previous suggestions that Henderson’s tax bill could be around $9 million if he signed with an English club. This rule influenced the midfielder’s decision to potentially join Ajax.</p>

<p>In July, the 33-year-old left Liverpool after 12 years to sign with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq. The <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/saudi-pro-league-executive-ronaldo-and-benzema-just-the-start-20230806-WST-448290.html">Saudi Pro League</a> club reportedly paid about $15 million to acquire his talents and experience.</p>



<p>Notwithstanding his weekly salary of $890,000, it’s believed that the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/nations/england-national-team-tv-schedule/">England</a> international has found it difficult to adapt to life in Saudi Arabia.</p>



<p>Under the tutelage of <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/liverpool-tv-schedule/">Liverpool</a> great Steven Gerrard, Henderson has made 19 appearances for Al Ettifaq, assisting on five goals. In addition to Henderson’s issues, Gerrard has been under intense criticism from owners due to the club’s dismal record.</p>

The Saudi team are making an exerted push to secure the signing of the veteran. It has emerged that whilst he initially had reservations about the move, he is now open to talks.</p>



<p>Over the next 24 hours, the Reds captain will meet with manager Jurgen Klopp to discuss his future at Anfield. However, the possibility of reuniting with Steven Gerrard, who was just named Al-Ettifaq coach, is an important factor.</p>

<h2>What will Jordan Henderson’s salary be if he moves to Al-Ettifaq?</h2>
