The CONCACAF Gold Cup begins tonight in Miami with two matches, Costa Rica vs Canada and Guadelope, first time qualifiers for the event taking on Haiti who qualified for the first time since 2000. The US opens play versus Guatemala tomorrow in Los Angeles.

Published reports indicate out of favor Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele is pondering a move to the MLS. Makelele had retired from the France National Team but then unretired for a Euro qualifier which set off a firestorm in Stamford Bridge. Makelele stated he feels he can continue to play for France if he moves stateside.
