<p>A symbol of kindness and compassion, <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/arsenal-tv-schedule/">Arsenal’s</a> Bukayo Saka has been instrumental in delivering relief to the victims of the devastating earthquake in Morocco. An act of tremendous generosity on the part of the 22-year-old winger has been the financing of the building of a container town in the Taroudant area, providing much-needed accommodation for people affected by the disaster.</p>



<p>Around 3,000 individuals lost their lives in the September 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck the North African country. That includes the 84 families uprooted from their homes in the impacted villages of Al Haouz and Taroudant.</p>



<p>By measuring 6.9 on the moment magnitude scale, it became the biggest earthquake ever recorded in Morocco and the deadliest for the nation since 1960.</p>

<p>Aiming to bring some normality back to the 84 households impacted, these containers provide essential comforts including sleeping quarters, kitchenettes, restrooms, showers, and access to power. Notably, the youngster is hoping to provide stability and comfort to 89 youngsters who are part of these Moroccan households.</p>



<p>To further fortify the containers against potential earthquake damage, protective grilles have been installed on the windows. The 89 youngsters and 84 families will be able to go back to some normal life.</p>



<p>“I was shocked when I heard about the terrible earthquake in Morocco. But, in the second moment, I knew that I really want to help. We started to look at what we can do to help the displaced families,” he said.</p>

<p>Saka’s efforts have had a major impact on the survival and comfort of those in west Africa.</p>



<p>“We found a way to help relatively quickly. We were able to put a roof over their head and give some comfort and hope to those who have lost everything through no fault of their own.</p>



<p>“The 84 families and, above all, the 89 children in the containers can regain a piece of their everyday lives. In situations where people are fighting for survival, losing their homes or their loved ones, you become even more aware of the privileged situation you live in.”</p>



<h2>Englishman known for various charity actions</h2>



<p>120 youngsters in Nigeria benefited from the 22-year-old’s partnership with BigShoe last year, who helped pay for important surgeries. Further, he provided funding for emergency shelters in Turkish cities hit by earthquakes in early 2023.</p>



<p>Since its inception in 2006, BigShoe has received support from several A-listers in its mission to aid disadvantaged youngsters. More than 1,800 youngsters throughout the globe benefited from the charity’s efforts. Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger and former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil have also been involved.</p>



<p>As with other players, the England international joined a larger trend in the sporting world by helping impoverished areas in Morocco. The charitable actions of Mo Salah include donating meals to folks in his hometown. Also, he made large donations to children’s hospitals in Egypt.</p>



<p>Similarly, players like Sadio Mane have a long-lasting influence off the field. Senegal’s healthcare and education systems are a credit to the African star.</p>

<p>Following the devastating earthquake that killed over 2,000 people in Morocco, members of the national soccer team have given blood.</p>



<p>At least 2,012 people were killed when an <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2023/09/09/africa/morocco-earthquake-what-we-know-intl/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">earthquake measuring 6.8</a> on the Richter scale hit southwest of the Moroccan city of Marrakesh. </p>



<p>More than 2,000 people were injured, with 1,404 in critical condition, according to the country’s Interior Ministry.</p>



<p>It was the worst and most powerful earthquake to rock the nation in more than 120 years. </p>



<p>Many residents of Marrakesh avoided their houses and instead slept on the streets or in public areas. </p>



<p>It was suspected that many more people were stranded in outlying settlements, so the military and rescue workers scrambled to get there as quickly as possible.</p>



<h5>Liberia clash postponed</h5>



<p>Agadir, which is 127 miles southwest of Marrakesh, was supposed to host the team’s <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/africa-cup-of-nations-qualifying-tv-schedule/">African Cup of Nations</a> qualifying match against Liberia on Saturday. However, the match was postponed.</p>

A video released on social media captures the moment when the Moroccan team approached a blood transfusion center amid loud cheering.</p>

<p>United has reason for worry after Sofyan Amrabat pulled out of Morocco’s camp with an injury. United discovered a minor back issue during his physical. Still, Amrabat jetted out to join his national squad earlier this week.</p>



<p>Amrabat joined the Morocco squad in preparation for this weekend’s <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/africa-cup-of-nations-qualifying-tv-schedule/">Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers</a>. However, he will not be participating in either of those games. Yahya Jabrane has taken his spot on Walid Regragui’s roster.</p>



<p>The defensive midfielder’s timetable for a return to action is now up in the air. If it is for an extended period of time, though, it will be a major setback for the Red Devils. On the other hand, the Sep. 16 match against Brighton is a potential starting point for Amrabat in a United kit.</p>

Bad news for Man Utd: New arrival withdraws from national team

Sofyan Amrabat finally joined Manchester United on the last day of the transfer window, but his debut is on hiatus due to an injury.


<p>Peru national team players and police got into a bit of pushing match Monday night in Spain. The team is currently in Spain to play a friendly match against <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/morocco-national-team-tv-schedule/">Morocco</a> on Tuesday. Atletico Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium is set to host the matchup.</p>



<p>Chaos broke out between the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/peru-national-team-tv-schedule/">Peruvians</a> and police while the team was greeted by fans at a hotel. Fans cheered and sang for the players inside of the hotel lobby. However, a police officer then grabbed one of the players and pushed him backwards. A scuffle between the two sides then ensued for a short period of time.</p>



<h5>MLS player detained by police for involvement in clash</h5>



<p>One of the players involved was Orlando City SC’s Pedro Gallese. The goalkeeper is currently Peru’s team captain. Gallese was taken into police custody and interrogated by authorities for the incident. The 33-year-old shot-stopper was, however, released from custody and is expected to feature in the Morocco match on Wednesday.</p>

<p>Maria de las Mercedes González Fernández, a police spokeswoman, claimed that Gallese was arrested in an issued statement on the ordeal. “The supporters tried to reach the players and police got in the middle between the fans and the players to avoid a crush,” a Spanish police spokeswoman <a href="https://www.beinsports.com/en/football/news/police-scuffle-with-peru-national-football-te/2062628" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">said</a>. “A player hit an officer in the eye. The player was then detained and taken to a police station.”</p>



<p>The spokeswoman also stated that the players were asked not to move towards the crowd of fans. “Even so, some players went out to be with them and, at some point, there was a confrontation between a player and riot police officer, and there was an assault, which caused the arrest of the player,” <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/28/football/peru-national-team-spanish-police-clashes-spt-intl/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">continued</a> de las Mercedes González Fernández. </p>



<h2>Peru officials fully support goalkeeper in Spain police</h2>



<p>Nevertheless, the Peruvian Football Federation has backed Gallese. The organization <a href="https://www.beinsports.com/en/football/news/police-scuffle-with-peru-national-football-te/2062628" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">claims</a> that they support the player and have accompanied him “since the incident occurred.” The PFF also made it clear that they “are respectful of the authorities and the procedures of each country that we visit.”</p>



<p>Earlier on Monday, a Spanish hotel employee was <a href="https://apnews.com/article/peru-pedro-gallese-brawl-police-madrid-hotel-ea66261e43cfab413985e1ae2b3b879c" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">arrested for racially abusing</a> a Moroccan player on social media. The aforementioned police spokeswomen has hinted that the man would be charged with a hate crime.</p>

The decision was revealed by King Mohammed VI at a meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Along with announcing the bid, the Moroccan king also received the <a href="https://www.cafonline.com/press-release/news/president-kagame-and-king-mohammed-vi-of-morocco-awarded-caf-president-outstandi" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Outstanding Achievement Award</a> by CAF president Dr. Patrice Motsepe.</p>



<p>“The Kingdom of Morocco has decided, together with Spain and Portugal, to present a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup,” said the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/morocco-fifa-2030-world-cup-bid-spain-portugal-a9da2270c49c734c256296f8faea4355" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">statement</a>. “This joint bid, which is unprecedented in football history, will bring together Africa and Europe, the northern and southern Mediterranean, and the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds. It will also bring out the best in all of us — in effect, a combination of genius, creativity, experience and means.”</p>



<h2>Morocco replace Ukraine in the 2030 World Cup alliance</h2>



<p>Morocco’s announcement could essentially end Ukraine’s chances of co-hosting the 2030 World Cup. The Eastern European nation previously proclaimed that they would team up with Portugal and Spain for the bid. However, it appears as if Morocco has replaced Ukraine in the partnership.</p>

<p>Geographically speaking, Morocco would make a bit more sense as potential co-hosts. The North African country is only separated from Spain by the Strait of Gibraltar. Ukraine, on the other hand, is significantly farther away from the two Western European nations. In fact, the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, is about 2,400 miles from the capital of Portugal, Lisbon. That is roughly the same distance from Phoenix to New York in the United States,</p>



<h5>African nation back after failed 2026 bid</h5>



<p>Morocco has wanted to be in the running to co-host the 2030 World Cup ever since losing the 2026 bid. The United States, Canada and Mexico <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/new-world-cup-2026-format-features-record-number-of-games-20230314-WST-423263.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">will host the 2026 version</a> of the tournament. </p>



<p>While King Mohammed VI has declared the official joint-bid, Spain has not yet confirmed the move. According to the <em><a href="https://apnews.com/article/morocco-fifa-2030-world-cup-bid-spain-portugal-a9da2270c49c734c256296f8faea4355" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">AP</a></em>, the three potential co-hosts for the 2030 World Cup will meet on Wednesday to address the bid.</p>



<p>The hosts for the 2030 World Cup are expected to be chosen in September of 2024. Morocco, Portugal and Spain will face competition from the South American contingent of Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Paraguay.</p>
