Jesse Lingard appears set to possibly rejoin <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/west-ham-tv-schedule/">West Ham</a> in the coming days. The former <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/nations/england-national-team-tv-schedule/">England</a> international is currently a free agent after departing <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/nottingham-forest-tv-schedule-for-us-viewers/">Nottingham Forest</a> in June. Lingard previously signed a one-year deal with Forest last year but could not manage to provide a positive impact on the club.



Nevertheless, the midfielder is playing for West Ham in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Thursday. <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12490887/Jesse-Lingard-play-closed-doors-friendly-West-Ham-TODAY-Hammers-consider-offering-contract-impressing-training.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mail Sport</a> claims that the 30-year-old playmaker will feature for the Hammers in their friendly with Ipswich. This would indicate that manager David Moyes is willing to offer Lingard a new contract.



<h2>Jesse Lingard has a positive history with West Ham</h2>



The former <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/manchester-united-tv-schedule/">Manchester United</a> star previously played for Moyes during the second half of the 2020/21 campaign. Despite only playing 16 <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/premier-league-tv-schedule/">Premier League</a> matches with the Hammers, Lingard scored an impressive nine goals for the club. The midfielder’s positive play helped guide the Hammers to sixth in the table, securing a <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/europa-league-tv-schedule/">Europa League</a> place.

<h5>Moyes previously rejected move for playmaker</h5>



However, Moyes did previously deny making a move for his former midfielder. Although Lingard has been training with the Hammers, the manager claimed that the player was just gaining fitness. “He’s in training to see if we can get him back fit and get him in decent condition,” Moyes <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12421827/West-Ham-NOT-considered-deal-Jesse-Lingard-claims-David-Moyes-despite-ex-Man-United-star-previously-thrived-loan-east-London-returning-train-club.html">told</a> reporters in mid-August. 



“He’ll be back here next week as well. There’s no news on that as far as short-term deals or anything else. We’re working on him. All players tend to need four or five weeks preseason and Jesse’s no different from anybody else.”



Nevertheless, assuming Moyes likes what he has been seeing from Lingard, a potential deal could be struck. West Ham is currently fourth in the Premier League table at the moment. The Hammers have not lost a top-flight match so far, winning three of their first four fixtures.



The aforementioned news outlet also claims that fellow Premier League side <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/wolves-tv-schedule-for-us-viewers/">Wolves</a> are also interested in Lingard as well.

Jesse Lingard is reportedly ready to feature for West Ham United during a behind-closed-doors friendly match on Thursday.

Jesse Lingard has officially departed Nottingham Forest after one year with the club. On Friday, the East Midlands team <a href="https://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/news/2023/june/02/forest-confirm-retained-list/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">announced</a> a dozen players will now become free agents. Half of these players were on the senior squad, while the remaining six featured for the youth side.



Along with Lingard, Forest also parted ways with Andre Ayew, Cafu, Jack Colback, Jordan Smith, and Lyle Taylor. All six players saw their current contracts expire at the club. Billy Fewster, Alex Gibson-Hammond, Ryan Hammond, Nicky Hogarth, Adnan Kanurić, and Lewis Salmon were the youth players to also be released by the team.



<h2>Lingard was top earner at Nottingham Forest</h2>



The <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/manchester-united-tv-schedule/">Manchester United</a> product only signed a one-year deal with Forest last summer. While he entered the fray as a free transfer, Lingard was easily the club’s highest-paid player. In fact, the midfielder <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jul/21/jesse-lingard-nottingham-forest-200000-a-week" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reportedly</a> earned $250,000 per week. This was double the club’s next leading earner, Dean Henderson. The goalkeeper spent the 2022/23 on loan at Forest from the Red Devils.

While Lingard earned a significant amount of money, he couldn’t quite live up to his massive wages. The midfielder failed to score or assist for the club in 17 total <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/premier-league-tv-schedule/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Premier League</a> appearances. He did, however, manage to grab two goals and two assists in Forest’s Carabao Cup run to the semifinals.



<h5>Forest owner not afraid to make changes to the squad</h5>



Along with Lingard, Forest signed an incredible 30 players throughout the 2022/23 campaign season. Team owner Evangelos Marinakis attempted to completely change his squad after they were promoted from the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/championship-tv-schedule/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Championship</a> last summer. Forest previously earned their place back in the Premier League after beating Huddersfield in the playoffs.



The massive amount of incoming transfers certainly seemed to help. Despite many pundits assuming that Forest would find it difficult to avoid relegation, the club stayed up after finishing 16th in the table. Now it seems as if Marinakis will have to make a plethora of new signings this summer after the recent departures to the squad.

Jesse Lingard is making his return to Old Trafford a bit more interesting, proclaiming Manchester United delivered ‘false promises’ during his time there. After spending over 20 years at <a href="https:\/\/worldsoccertalk.com/teams/manchester-united-tv-schedule/">Manchester United</a>, Lingard signed with Nottingham Forest after his contract expired with the Red Devils. Forest travel to Manchester to face United on Tuesday.



While it would be an emotional day for Lingard anyway, he has made some interesting comments about his former club. The midfielder suggested United gave him “false promises” during his last season in Manchester. Lingard made just 16 total <a href="https:\/\/worldsoccertalk.com/premier-league-tv-schedule/">Premier League</a> appearances last campaign for the Red Devils.



<h5>Player still doesn’t know why United prevented his chances</h5>



“I don’t know why I wasn’t playing, don’t know what the problem was, whether it was politics or whatever,” Lingard told <a href="https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/12/26/jesse-lingard-interview-dont-know-why-frozen-manchester-united2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Telegraph</a>. “I still haven’t got an answer to this day.” 



“I’d rather that someone out of respect for me being there that long told me ‘this is why you’re not playing’, but I never got that. It was false promises. I was training hard and I was sharp, I was ready to play them games. When you’re working hard in training and don’t play at the end of it, it’s very frustrating.”



These promises were made by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The former Manchester United manager supposedly gave Lingard assurances that he would be given ample playing time. Prior to the 2021/22 campaign, the midfielder completed a successful season on loan at West Ham. Lingard scored nine goals in just 16 Premier League appearances for the Hammers.

“People wanted me to hit the ground running like I did at West Ham, but it’s not sometimes like that,” Lingard continued. “I didn’t have a proper preseason and had a problem with my Achilles as I was training on my own [before the move]. I was trying to get through games and not feeling 100 per cent, but I still wanted to fight for my team.”



<h2>Lingard suffers from false promises at United</h2>



Nevertheless, Solkjaer never gave Lingard a place in his starting XI that season. The Norwegian was fired in late November of 2021 and replaced with Ralf Rangnick. Lingard’s playing time did not increase under Rangnick either. In fact, he made just two Premier League starts during the entire 2021/22 campaign.



Lingard will now face is former club for the first time since departing this past summer. He will certainly hope to show United what they may have missed out on.

London (AFP) – England marked their return to Wembley for the first time since their Euro 2020 final heartbreak by seeing off minnows Andorra 4-0 on Sunday to preserve their perfect World Cup qualifying record.
Manager Gareth Southgate changed the entire starting XI following his side’s comfortable 4-0 win in Hungary in midweek — the first time England had changed every player since 1982.
But the home team still had far too much quality for 156th-ranked Andorra, even though they struggled to turn their dominance into goals on a warm September afternoon.
Jesse Lingard scored twice and substitute Harry Kane netted from the spot before a late goal from Bukayo Saka as England made it five wins from five matches in Group I on the road to Qatar 2022.
Southgate said it had been tough for his players to gel, admitting they had struggled to find fluency early despite hogging possession.
Manchester United forward Lingard, out of favour at Old Trafford, opened the scoring in the 18th minute — his first international goal since 2018.
He then raced to the corner and performed Cristiano Ronaldo’s trademark spin-and-jump goal celebration in honour of his new clubmate.
England were frustrated for the rest of the first half, unable to cut through a packed Andorra defence, who disrupted the hosts with a series of fouls.
Southgate’s men picked up as they left off after the break, encamped in Andorra’s half but again struggled to create clear chances, with Reece James going closest when he hit the crossbar from distance.

Southgate made three changes with about half an hour to go, bringing on Mason Mount, Jack Grealish and captain Kane to replace the impressive Jude Bellingham, James and debutant Patrick Bamford.
Mount was bundled over in the box after fine work from Grealish and Kane made no mistake from the spot, doubling the lead in the 72nd minute.
Lingard had his second goal of the game six minutes later, beating Josep Gomes with a right-footed shot from the left of the area.
And birthday boy Saka headed in England’s fourth as the scoreboard finally reflected their total dominance of the game.
The Arsenal man missed a spot-kick in the Euro 2020 final penalty shootout against Italy and Southgate said he hoped the 20-year-old could now claim “closure”.
“He got a fabulous reception, before and during the game,” Southgate told ITV. “You can see how popular he is with the rest of the team as well.
“I hope it provided closure if it was needed, but I don’t think there’s a player in that dressing room that thinks anything other than positively about what he did all summer.”
Earlier, thousands thronged the approach to the stadium in the lead-up to kick-off but there was no repeat of the febrile atmosphere at the Euro 2020 final.
There was a visible but low-key police presence outside the national stadium, which was stormed by ticketless fans in July, and inside the ground there was a carnival atmosphere.
A crowd banner bearing the message “Walk Tall” was unfurled in support of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Saka following the racist abuse they received after missing penalties in the Euro 2020 showpiece.
And the crowd of more than 67,000 cheered as both teams took the knee before kick-off to protest against discrimination, days after a number of England’s black players were racially abused in Budapest.

London (AFP) – Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard has signed a new contract that is set to keep him at Old Trafford until at least 2021, it was announced Thursday. &nbsp;
The winger, who has been attached to United since he was a seven-year-old, made his mark in the first team under former manager Louis van Gaal last season.
With the club since the age of seven, the winger established himself in the first-team under van Gaal last season and scored the winning goal in United’s 2-1 FA Cup final win over Crystal Palace at Wembley.
The 24-year-old Lingard has so far won four England caps and his new contract was announced by United ahead of his current deal expiring at the end of next season.
His new contract means he is set to stay with United until June 2021 with the option to extend for another year.&nbsp;
“Manchester United has always been a big part of my life,” Lingard, now playing under manager Jose Mourinho, said in a club statement.
“I have been with the club since the age of seven and I feel great pride every time I pull the shirt on. To have scored in two cup finals for my boyhood club were immensely proud moments for me and my family.
“As a team, we have already won a major trophy this season (the League Cup) and I look forward to helping us win many more under this great manager.
“I would like to say a special thank you to the fans for the great support they have always given me and the team,” added Lingard, whose new deal is reported to be worth £100,000 ($124,693, 117,148 euros) a week.
“Jesse has been with the club since the age of seven,” said Mourinho. “He has good intelligence which, when combined with his energy and ability, makes for a player with a great future ahead of him.
“Jesse is a popular member of the squad and I am delighted he has signed a new contract.”

London (AFP) – Jesse Lingard’s extra-time thunderbolt earned Manchester United a record-equalling 12th FA Cup as Louis van Gaal’s side came from behind to defeat Crystal Palace 2-1 in Saturday’s final at Wembley.
In a rematch of the 1990 final, which United won after a replay, underdogs Palace took the lead in the 78th minute when Jason Puncheon slammed home, only for Juan Mata to equalise less than three minutes later.
With the tie heading towards penalties, substitute Lingard drilled a stunning volley past a motionless Wayne Hennessey in the 110th minute to end United’s 12-year wait to lift the FA Cup and give their supporters something to cheer about at the end of a tumultuous season.
“It is fantastic to win this title for the club, for the fans and also for me, because I now&nbsp;have won the cup&nbsp;in four countries, and not many managers have done that,” Van Gaal said.
“With 10 players, and we have played Tuesday evening also (beating Bournemouth 3-1), but we have deserved it, I think. It was a super goal, eh?”
Lingard told BT Sport: “I saw it come across and it landed nicely for me. All I had to do was hit it sweet, and luckily I did that. As a sub you always have to be ready. Thankfully I was.”
It was United’s first FA Cup win since 2004, allowing captain Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick to complete their domestic medal collections, and took them level with Arsenal, winners in 2014 and 2015, as the most successful clubs in the competition’s illustrious history.
But while Van Gaal celebrated his first trophy in English football, and United’s first major honour since Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, it may not be enough to keep him in a job following the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Instead United, who lost Marcus Rashford and Marcos Rojo to injury and Chris Smalling to an extra-time red card, will go into the Europa League, along with West Ham United, after United’s Wembley win freed up an additional qualifying berth.
Palace manager Alan Pardew, meanwhile, met with FA Cup heartbreak for the third time, having been on the losing side against United with the south London club in 1990 and overseen West Ham’s defeat on penalties by Liverpool in 2006.
“The players have given me everything,” Pardew said.
“We played with heart and passion. It was a great cup final. Manchester United did the same. It made for an enthralling tie and a game that could have gone either way.”

United enjoyed the best of the first half, but Pardew was infuriated when referee Mark Clattenburg brought play back for a free-kick despite Connor Wickham jumping to his feet and racing into the box after being dragged to the turf by Smalling, who was booked.
United’s control was even more pronounced after half-time as Van Gaal’s men succeeded in pinning Palace back and they hit the woodwork twice in the space of eight minutes through Marouane Fellaini’s drilled shot and Anthony Martial’s header.
Injuries then deprived United of Rojo and Rashford, with Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young coming on, while Puncheon replaced Yohan Cabaye.
The Palace substitute made an immediate impact. His 78th-minute corner from the left was headed away by Fellaini, but Joel Ward helped the ball back into the box and Puncheon brought it down before blasting a vicious left-foot shot past David de Gea at his near post.
Pardew celebrated with a touchline dance, but within three minutes Palace’s lead had vanished.
Rolling back the years, Rooney did superbly to reach the byline on the right before digging out a cross that was chested down at the back post by Fellaini for Mata to strike a volley that rattled between Ward’s feet and crept over the line.
United lost Smalling when the England centre-back received a second yellow card for hauling Yannick Bolasie back by his ankle as he lay on the turf.
The teams exchanged chances in the second extra period — De Gea thwarting substitute Dwight Gayle with his feet, Carrick heading wide — before United academy graduate Lingard, a 90th-minute replacement for Mata, claimed a piece of FA Cup history.
Antonio Valencia’s drilled cross was cleared by Damien Delaney, but the ball popped up for Lingard, who sent a volley whistling into the top-left corner before tearing off his shirt and racing towards the United end in gleeful celebration.
