FA Enacts Revenge on BBC's Lineker And Hansen

It's been a week of highs and lows for the English Football Association. Mostly lows. Deep, dark lows with the demoralizing and embarrassing nil-nil draw for England against Israel, and the unconvincing 3-0 away win versus Andorra. But there has been one high and that's the TV contract that the FA signed with ITV and […]

A Thrilling Saturday for Soccer Fans

After a Saturday like this, I now know why I'm not too fond of international matches anymore. They're bloody boring in comparison! Growing up in Wales, I remember the thrill of watching the British Home Championships on Saturdays when England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland would play each other to see who would be deemed […]

ABC's World Cup TV Coverage Nominated for an Emmy

Don't laugh, but ABC's coverage of the 2006 World Cup has been nominated for an Emmy. No, I'm not making this up. While many of us, myself included, thought that ABC's coverage was an embarrassment, especially the ineptitude displayed by baseball-come-soccer commentator Dave O'Brien, the clueless powers that be at the Emmy's obviously thought different. […]

League One Promotion Race

I'll declare my bias right off the start — I hope Nottingham Forest get an automatic promotion to the Championship this season. That being said, there is a massive game this weekend as third-place Forest face second-place Bristol City at Ashton Gate. Promotion could be worth up to £10m this season and Forest were once […]

Running Scared: England's National Team

By John NicholsonOne of the great conundrums of football is how a team of averagely talented players can sometimes play better and beat a team of superior players. EPL Talk's Visit to Fulham's Craven Cottage

Craven Cottage seems out of place in the Premiership. With grounds such as Old Trafford, the Emirates Stadium and St. James's Park being large steel monstrosities, Craven Cottage is a tiny but historic ground nestled next to the quaint Bishop's Park alongside the dark brown River Thames. I had the pleasure of visiting the ground […]
