Finding the Premier League In Unsuspecting Places

Something happened this past weekend that made my day. I decided to take a long walk Saturday. It was a beautiful day in South Florida. A picture-perfect day. Blue skies, 76 degrees fahrenheit and a cool breeze. It felt so good to get out and walk for about an hour through a quiet, wooded neighborhood. […]

I forced myself to watch the England against Spain game delay on Saturday night. I didn't have high expectations. And I wasn't excited about watching the England team play. They've lacked the passion for so long when they've played that watching them had become a chore. But for the first time in a long time, […]

Some of you are Anglophiles, ex-pats or live in the United Kingdom, so I hope you'll allow me this indulgence to write about a topic that has nothing to do with the English Premier League but has everything to do with the country where the matches are played. Premier League Sunday: Nov. 6, 2011

httpv://youtu.be/NoUNrjrRXw8 After an exhausting but exhilarating day of Premier League football yesterday (especially after Swansea's emotional, for me, draw), we have the prospect of three Premier League matches to look forward to. First, don't forget that if you live in the United States, the clocks have gone back one hour. The first game to kick […]

Glory Days Are Back at Newcastle United (And My Affair With the Geordie Nation)

Before FOX Sports World (now FOX Soccer) launched in 1997, the only way to watch live Premier League matches on a Saturday in the United States was via closed circuit TV. Every Saturday morning, I would drive the 32 miles from Wellington, Florida to Boca Raton to a British pub named The Ugly Duck (still […]

Look to Swansea As Masters Of the Passing Game, Not Arsenal or Liverpool

httpv://youtu.be/i-jwClzsDog Tomorrow's clash between Liverpool and Swansea City will be the first time the two clubs have played each other in the league in 28 years. What I find interesting about tomorrow's game — and what has transpired in those 28 years — is that there's been a role reversal. Liverpool, in the late 70s […]
