Dynamo Show How it is done: Join Impact and Islanders in CONCACAF Quarters.

Brian Ching's header last night sent the Dynamo through to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League. For all the criticisms of this tournament by MLS apologists, the event has produced from my vantage point much more entertaining football than MLS itself, and the Dyanmo who are a class organization whose goal is to […]

Sounders Cement Themselves

The Sounders FC expansion draft was conducted Wednesday and the new Seattle franchise did quite well. Nate Jaqua returned to MLS after a successful season in Europe, largely with the idea of playing for the Sounders, so his choice was pre ordained. But the other choices much like San Jose a year ago took a […]

MLS on ESPN/ABC Continues to Underwhelm

Part of the problem Major League Soccer has on television is undoubtedly the amateur nature in which the Disney family network has treated the league for years. We've had shows come and go like MLS Extra Time, and MLS Soccer Saturday. We've seen the TV ratings go down almost every year and have continued to […]

Major League Soccer Talk Site Update

I apologize for not posting the extensive coverage of MLS Cup we did a year ago. I have had some personal family health issues to deal with the past few days as well as an extensive work schedule. I should have my thoughts on the MLS Cup which I did not see live but did […]

MLS Commissioner Don Garber Speaks: Thoughts

Don Garber as always has been conducting a major charm offensive as MLS Cup approaches. But as someone who has watched the league since its inception I’ve become numb or even totally immune to the league’s propaganda. MLS the way I see it has problems and has not delivered the product promised to fans of […]

Thoughts on the Hexagonal: November 2008

The United States got a rude welcome to 2009 this morning. A day after agreeing to a friendly with Sweden to conclude the traditional January camp, Bob Bradley’s men were handed an opening date of qualifying versus Mexico at home. The United States has not lost at home to Mexico in qualifying since 1972 but […]

US vs Guatemala Post Match Thoughts

Great second half goals for Kenny Cooper and Freddy Adu pace the United States. Both players showed their quality tonight and surely left an impression on Bob Bradley. But the real excitement was elsewhere in CONCACAF. Mexico's lack of composure, and unsporting play took a turn for the worse tonight as Carlos Vela deliberetely tried […]

US-Guatemala Thoughts: November 2008

I'm traveling on business this week but figured I'd throw open this open thread on game. I'll come back with some thoughts later and do want to mention Jamaica has an early goal against Canada and the announcement of that score in San Pedro Sula should open up the Mexico-Honduras match. UPDATE: Great second half […]

Eddie Gaven: A Score to Settle?

For years I have viewed Eddie Gaven as one of the most talented and potentially successful young players in US Youth National Team setup. Gaven appeared to be the perfect midfield compliment for the budding world superstar Freddy Adu. But something happened along the way to stardom for Gaven. It was called the Metrostars. Like […]
