US National Team: Now the Challenge Begins

The United States National Team faced three of its four easiest qualifying matches at the beginning of the Hexagonal schedule. The expectation that the United States would capture nine points from these three matches and have a security buffer against failures in the summer and the fall has not been achieved. Yet largely thanks to […]

US 3-0 T&T: Landon Donovan's Masterpiece

Bob Bradley shook up the US lineup entering tonight's must win qualifier in Nashville against Trinidad and Tobago. The squad responded with a 3-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago. But I will preface the analysis of the match with the fact that T&T created more chances than they should have considering Dwight Yorke was injured […]

Matchday: US vs Trinidad & Tobago

Nashville is the venue for the today's World Cup Qualifier between the United States, high flying side at home and Francisco Maturana's Soca Warriors. The last time these two teams met on US soil, last September in Chicago, Maturana got his tactics all wrong and T&T was smoked. Quite frankly, I see the same exact […]

CONCACAF Hexaganol Matchday Three

The empire strikes back could have been the headline for Saturday as Mexico beat nemesis Costa Rica to reclaim a little bit of lost mojo. But now Mexico must go to Honduras and slay another dragon, in the form of traditional Mexican killer Carlos Pavon. Pavon's international career has been on the rocks of late […]

The loss of Champions League rights for the United States is just the latest blow to ESPN's once dominant position broadcasting Football in the United States. Bradley's Bucket: Safety First?

Bob Bradley's tactics are worrisome to begin with, but now player selection is becoming a bigger and bigger issue for the US National Team. The bucket formation which has been criticized from the get go as non conducive to international football (although the formation and its variations have been very successful in MLS). Bradley's Bucket […]

WPS Opener a Big Hit

WPS first season opened up with a showcase match at the Home Depot Center. Marta's LA Sol versus Abby Wambach's Washington Freedom. I predicted a spectacular match this morning on the site and even with those lofty expecations the game was amazing. So as far as the Football is concerned, WPS is probably better than […]

WPS Opener Should Be Spectacular

The inaugural WPS season opens tonight in Los Angeles as the Sol play host to the Washington Freedom. Marta is the star attraction no doubt, as arguably the greatest female footballer on the planet touches down on American soil. But this match like so many others to come in the WPS will pit two evenly […]

El Salvador 2-2 USA: CONCACAF Personified

AP Photo If you missed this match, you missed something special. The US with their backs against the wall in a hostile atmosphere came through with two incredibly skillful goals to draw in El Salvador 2-2. This match had everything for skeptic of football or the eurosnob who looks down on CONCACAF. A great crowd, […]

MLS vs USSF

It's been going on so long now, we should all be immune to it. But somehow it still evokes anger. For the record while I do not believe MLS should play during international breaks for a variety of reasons, if MLS must play through the breaks why must they schedule games on national TV at […]
