An Irish Defeat Would be a Loss for International Football

I’ll admit that hearing many a pundit say that a World Cup without France would lose some of its bite made my blood boil. I have nothing against French Football, and in fact cheered for them in each of their four knock out stage matches of Germany 2006. But from my perspective an Irish defeat […]

US Faces Depleted Danish Side

It’s a tough situation Bob Bradley finds himself in. Monday Musings

The Galaxy’s win over the Dynamo was dramatic but in many ways tainted. A strange call when against Houston, and the rolling power outages that swept Southern California seemed to unfortunately coincide with upsurges in Houston play. Chicago vs Real Salt Lake was a better match than the Galaxy-Houston game. A better atmosphere and more […]

Slovakia 1-0 USA: Post Match Thoughts (UPDATED)

I'll have much more later but today the US showed that we have a lot of depth on the backline, but that the loss of Charlie Davies up front could be a fatal blow to our chances to advance deep in next summer's World Cup. Brad Guzan made some big saves, and Slovakia looked disinterested […]

Looking Back at Project 2010: Part I

2009, has been a very complicated year for US National Team supporters. We’ve had the high of our first ever FIFA final combined with the low of a 5-0 loss to arch rival Mexico. We beat World Cup qualifier Honduras four times this year and gave Spain its only loss of the last three years. […]

American Soccer Coming Home To St Louis

Yesterday’s announcement of a breakaway league from USL-1 had a great symbolic significance. It seems after many false starts and false hopes, outdoor soccer may finally be coming home to St Louis. November 10th, 2009 could very well be remembered for future generations as the day Soccer came home. St Louis is the traditional mecca […]

The Return of Familiar Faces

Major League Soccer's decision to conduct its semifinal playoff rounds at the same time as this international break has severely hamstrung Bob Bradley's selection. With two very interesting friendlies against European sides that have already qualified for next summer’s World Cup, these matchups would have provided an opportunity to test some of the best we have to […]
