Miami FC to play matches at the Orange Bowl

Jeff Rusnak's column yesterday included a mention that Miami FC of the USL First Division (2nd division in the USA) will be playing its next two home matches at the Orange Bowl. Since Romario left the club attendance at Tropical Park Stadium has been poor despite a good young crop of local players in addition […]

The Best and Worst of MLS 2007 (Thru One Month)

One month of the MLS Season is in the books and as is typical of the league very few standout teams or players have shown themselves at this early stage. Randon MLS Thoughts

It's a shame that Alexi Lalas didn't spend much time this offseason working on solidifying the Galaxy's porous defense. Less than a minute after Tyrone Marshall tied the match yesterday, Taylor Twellman responded with a goal that gave the Galaxy yet another home defeat. How bad will it be for the league if David Beckham […]

Has Anything Changed with MLS?

One month of MLS' most important season is in the books and some very disturbing trends are already developing. Goal scoring, attendance and TV ratings are all down from last year at this time. The obvious retort to that statement is that 2006 was a World Cup year where the US team was being unfairly […]

Random Thoughts: May 6, 2007

It was outstanding to see Clint Dempsey score the winning goal for Fulham yesterday. In fact it is probably the goal that will save Fulham from the drop. Maybe that will earn Dempsey a new contract, that until yesterday was totally undeserved. It was fantastic to see Jason Kreis, one of the greats of this […]

What Future Awaits Yanks in England?

As the seasons in both the Premiership and Championship draw to a close the fate of several American Internationals lies in the balance. Some Americans including Leeds United's Eddie Lewis and Watford's Jay DeMerit have already been relegated. Others including Jonathan Spector, Cory Gibbs and the three Americans on Fulham will have a nervous few […]

Random Thoughts on MLS Week Four Thus Far

The atmosphere for last night's Super Classico was once again outstanding. Not only was the Home Depot Center full, but unlike most American soccer matches which seem too family friendly for typical Latin or European football fans, the crowd was rocking and the play on the pitch intense. The Galaxy made the most of their […]

The Real Deal?

MLSNET.com has an outstanding story on the impact new signing Carlos Marinelli has made on Kansas City already this season. While Marinelli is not a "Beckham Rule" player he has arguably played at better clubs abroad than four of the five "Beckham Rule" players, the notable exception being David Beckham himself. Moreover, at 25 Marinelli […]
