Morning Thoughts from London

With a few hours sleep in the books for me to digest the performance last night, let me elaborate on some of my initial thoughts about the match. Josh Wolff’s time as a National Team member should be over. Thank you for the spectacular goal against Mexico in 2001 and the setup for Brian […]

Outclassed

A flat uninspiring effort left the US supporters here in London frustrated and in some ways shocked not only at the lack of quality the US demonstrated but also at the indifference many on the team seemed to play with. I have previously made the case strongly that I believe without Landon Donovan the top […]

The View From London: Afternoon Update

Sky News ridiculed Sven Goran Eriksson possibly taking the Mexico job, and T&T was written off as a "weak opponent". This shows the general contempt the UK based media has for CONCACAF Don Garber was interviewed on Sky News about the match. What Lineup Should the US Field at Wembley?

This is a friendly meant for experimenting. I'd like to win but now knowing the squad and its limitations I think finding out about certain guys may in fact down the road be much more important than chasing a result that is unlikely to come. ———————————-Jaqua————————————— ———————————Adu——————————————- Beasley—————————————————–Donovan—— ————————–Clark—————Bradley———————– Pearce————–Onyewu————–Edu——–Cherdundolo—- ———————————Guzan————————————— 2nd Half Subs: Lewis […]

MLS Power Rankings: May 26, 2008

1- New England Revs The most likely side to feature in MLS Cup stole yet another road match. Matt Reis was simply scintillating in goal and if Bob Bradley wants to continue to deepen the goalkeeper pool, despite being in his thirties Reis can contribute. 2- Chicago A deep, talented […]

MLS Wrap; Some not so subtle thoughts

FC Dallas’ comeback against RSL at Pizza Hut Park owed itself as much to RSL’s ineptitude as it did to FCD. Dominic Oduro did have two well taken goals and for the second straight season he hit a stoppage time winner versus RSL. Jason Kreis was one of my favorite MLS players but as a […]

MLS Weekend Review: May 26, 2008

MLS bounced back this past weekend after several weeks of the type of uninspiring action that would prompt critics of the league’s quality to claim the US first division is no better than League One or Two in England (The 3rd and 4th divisions in England.) While MLS has more quality in the attack than […]
