Raheem Sterling the right buy at a critical time for Manchester City

By many pundits, Raheem Sterling is being called "overpriced" at £49 million. However, when you consider the £35 million Liverpool spent on Andy Carroll, the £50 million Chelsea spent on Fernando Torres and even the £28 million Manchester City just spent in January on Wilfried Bony, Sterling looks a potential bargain. Sterling will join an aging squad […]

Former CONCACAF General Secretary and FIFA Executive Committee member Chuck Blazer has been banned from all soccer activities for life on Thursday. The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) began the defense of its CONCACAF Gold Cup title with an underwhelming and fortuitous 2-1 victory over Honduras in Frisco, Texas on Tuesday evening. What did MLS and USSF know about Traffic Sports’ improprieties?

With the CONCACAF Gold Cup about to kick off, the FIFA scandal should be on the front-burner for most American journalists. USA women's coach Jill Ellis has proven us all wrong

During the past few weeks, US soccer fans and media have been highly critical of US Women's National Team Head Coach Jill Ellis and the tactics she has employed. This writer was no exception. FOX’s coverage of the Women’s World Cup has been a mixture of positives and negatives. On the positive, the match commentators have generally been good, especially the standout team of Justin Kutcher and Aly Wagner. Why Manchester City need to close Raheem Sterling deal soon

Manchester City’s poor transfer dealings the last several windows have allowed the club to lose its English core, to be passed by Chelsea and caught by Arsenal and Manchester United. Again this summer, City’s buying and selling appear to be belated and perhaps based more on hopefulness and naivety than reality. The Blues have already […]

Does North American soccer need super clubs?

Many fans of the Beautiful Game criticize MLS for its single entity structure and salary caps. What has resulted is parity though certain teams like the Los Angeles Galaxy have found a way to “game” the system, but much of the success of the Galaxy is down to the management genius of Bruce Arena. But […]
