Thoughts About the Olympic Selection

Peter Nowak's selections for the 2008 US Men's Olympic Team where fairly straight forward. However I was somewhat surprised by a few decisions. However none of these decisions can be filed away as shockers. With only 15 available U-23 spots from the legitimate pool of 40 plus possible players I mentioned earlier this week all […]

Superliga Matchday Four: Chivas USA – Santos Laguna

Second Half Santos failure to finish even one of their numerous chances has encouraged Preki to bring Jesse Marsch and Ante Razov both on at halftime. Chivas USA is no doubt now chasing 3 points! Still for Chivas it seems it will take something special to Oswaldo Sanchez while Santos seems to have used all […]

Superliga Matchday Four: Chivas USA- Santos Laguna

I want to proudly announce that Edgar Castillio will be on the 2Gs show tomorrow. Castillio the left footed defender/midfielder for Santos Laguna was raised in New Mexico but opted to play at the international level for Mexico. He scored a goal against Guatemala in the Olympic qualifying tournament, however Mexico lost that match and […]

Superliga Matchday Four: New England – Pachuca

This was the best game of the tournament from a pure technical standpoint. No it did not feature the goals or open play of other matches but two teams with so much quality. Don’t be surprised if these teams meet in the final where Pachuca like last year having lost to the Galaxy in group […]

Superliga Matchday Three: DC United- Atlante

To call DC’s performance tonight a disappointment is major understatement. From my personal perspective as I discussed on the 2Gs show with Graham and Peter on April 10th I have a certain expectation from DC in these sorts of competitions and no expectations from other teams in MLS. (in the case of that match we […]

Jaqua even earned a call up to the US National Team after an almost three year absence for the match against England at Wembley. I've seen some other publications hail the […]

Superliga Matchday Two: Chivas USA-Pachuca

Second Half: Fewer references to Sven from this Telefutura crew. Maybe that's because Pachuca is a largely South American team and Sven is spending his time on the east coast it seems in this tournament. Sven did look comfy in the press box in Foxborough. I assume he'll be back there for another Superliga match. […]
