Build-Em-Up (EPL Talk Review Podcast)

Without either Manchester side in the mix this weekend we see a peak in the exciting football as teams hone their side and make a push to be the most impressive in the league. Is it a question of too little, too late? The pod look at the top four credentials of all runners.

Excellent goals were on the menu as hat-tricks from Suarez and Torres spun a season which could have been so disappointing into a success, it took time but with goals of this quality it was worth the wait, right?

Of course the Manchester Derby is the pinnacle of the EPL season. Section three is dedicated to previewing and reviewing the season in Manchester. Let us know your predictions and tactical thoughts on Twitter:

Just listening to your coverage of the Wigan NUFC match. NUFC actually has a very weak defense which has been flattered all season by a great midfield, thinking of Tiote in particular, and by a great goal keeper in Tim Krul. I suspect Wigan’s aggressive 3-4-3 split open the midfield and revealed Newcastle’s defense for what it really is- not very good.

I would hate for the magpies not to make the CL because I am afraid some of their best players will be tempted to move on. I could easily imagine Tiote playing for either Manchester club.

Regarding why Wigan pulls things together at the end of the campaign, one must remember Wigan is a selling club and essentially starts with a new squad each year- it makes sense it takes the better part of a season to find their form. Although I will admit their current form makes me suspect some kind of Faustian deal. They are playing seriously attractive football.

I have not heard the podcast yet but did hear Kartik on Talk Sports Radio last night. Kartik did his usual fine job of running down the action from the weekend that listeners of the podcast are used to. As a long time reader and occasional contributor to the EPL Talk family of sites I was very proud of the international recognition being made to EPL Talk by Kartik’s appearance.

Congratulations to Kartik, but also Laurence and the podcast crew as well as the guy who started it all the Gaffer. Your fame is now truly spanning the globe.
