Do Red Bull Have a Clue About the Beckham Rule?
Do Red Bull Have a Clue About the Beckham Rule?

Soccer websites are abuzz today with the news that Juan Pablo Angel has signed as a Beckham rule player with MLS traditional stomping bag, the New York franchise. Throughout the history of the Metrostars/ Red Bull franchise they have failed miserably regardless of the reputation of the players allocated to […]

SI.com is reporting some potentially huge news for MLS. Guillermo Barros Schelotto whose popularity has reached cult status among Boca Juniors fans will sign with the Columbus Crew instead of joining one of several European clubs who had expressed interest. Schelotto has been one of the best players ever in […]

Dick’s Sporting Goods Park Photos
Dick’s Sporting Goods Park Photos

The Stadium is not only an excellent soccer specific stadium with a beautiful pitch and outstanding sight-lines, but it has perhaps the best concessions I have seen at a non-Baseball stadium in the United States. Any type of food is available at the park. This includes standard sports event fare […]

Arsenal USA
Arsenal USA

Two months ago rumors were abound that the Colorado Rapids were about to change their name to Arsenal Colorado or Arsenal USA. Instead the Rapids simply changed their logo and color scheme to match that of Aston Villa or West Ham not Arsenal. Today as I walked into Dick’s Sporting […]

Keller Nears Relegation
Keller Nears Relegation

Kasey Keller’s Borussia Mönchengladbach fell deeper into the relegation zone with a loss yesterday to fellow Bundesliga strugglers Hamburg SV. If Keller’s team fails to avoid the drop it will be interesting to see if Major League Soccer will make a serious attempt to bring the near legendary American keeper […]

Dick’s Sporting Goods Park From the Outside
Dick’s Sporting Goods Park From the Outside

Yesterday, I snuck this picture of the outside of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the new home of the Colorado Rapids. The Stadium sits on 380 undeveloped acres of land, with several practice fields and a soccer academy already set up. The Stadium is just up Quebec Street from the nation’s […]

Carlos Marinelli signed by Kansas City
Carlos Marinelli signed by Kansas City

It’s always nice when Major League Soccer signs a foreign player whose name I recognize. Argentine Carlos Marinelli is a pure #10, whose four years at Middlesbrough were troubled, and Marinelli only started 43 games for the Boro despite being annoited as the clubs next great player. Since leaving the […]

Scenes From Toyota Park
Scenes From Toyota Park

This summer Gregg and I visited Toyota Park, one of the best soccer specific stadiums in the nation. Toyota Park is the home of the Chicago Fire. We attended the match between the MLS All Stars and Chelsea at the stadium. This weekend I will be visiting Dick’s Sporting Goods […]

Beasley and Bocanegra score in the same EPL Match!!!!
Beasley and Bocanegra score in the same EPL Match!!!!

This is perhaps the first time two opposing clubs in the EPL have had goals from American Internationals. Man City won 3 to 1, and Beasley’s goal is shown on this clip. I’m working on getting Bocanegra’s latest goal, his 6th of the EPL season (the 2nd most for a […]

Thoughts on TV coverage of MLS Week One
Thoughts on TV coverage of MLS Week One

Eric Wynalda’s suspension by ESPN for ABC’s Saturday telecast was nothing short of criminal. What ESPN lacks throughout its sports programming is strong witty opinions. Just consider the way ESPN’s signature voices analyze their respective sports: Dick Vitale will never criticize a coach or a player who happens to stay […]

Will MLS First Kick on ABC feature Eric Wynalda?
Will MLS First Kick on ABC feature Eric Wynalda?

Rumors are abound that Eric Wynalda has been suspended for ABC’s telecast of MLS First Kick later today. If Wynalda has in fact been suspended it is a bad sign as to ESPN’s commitment to objective and critical analysis by its commentators.

Wynalda vs Donovan Cold War Continues
Wynalda vs Donovan Cold War Continues

By now I am sure everyone has heard about Eric Wynalda’s comments towards noted Soccer hater and general sports trash monger Jim Rome. What had escaped me during the ordeal was Wynalda’s comments towards Landon Donovan that follows up nicely on the war of words on both sides we discussed […]
