<p>Timothy Weah will not be joining the Premier League as Juventus offered the American on loan to Everton for the rest of this season. The versatile player has not made the most of his playing time in <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/serie-a-tv-schedule/">Serie A</a> this season. However, he would rather stay in Turin with the potential title winners <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/juventus-tv-schedule/">Juventus</a> than join relegation candidate <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/everton-tv-schedule/">Everton</a>, according to <a href="https://twitter.com/ed_aarons/status/1752020571565523386" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ed Aarons of <em>The Guardian</em></a>. The winter transfer window closes on Feb. 1. Therefore, Juventus may find another place to send Weah on loan.</p>



<p>Weah has featured in every league game for Juventus that he has been fit for. Yet, in those 17 games, he has come off the bench 10 times. He has only played the full 90 minutes twice, both of which were wins. Without a goal in league play, Weah only has one assist to his name with the <em>Bianconeri</em>. <a href="https://youtu.be/357xxBNZolk?si=vHF-0mefKlF7FXcB&amp;t=345" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">That assist proved crucial</a>, though, as it set up Manuel Locatelli’s long-range effort that won Juventus the game at <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/ac-milan-tv-schedule/">AC Milan</a>. Weah’s only goal came in the Coppa Italia round of 16 against Salernitana. A <a href="https://youtu.be/BkoyBCHeZJE?si=RX363MBJw6uM-xvT&amp;t=825" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">sensational shot from long range</a> slammed off the crossbar to give Juventus its sixth and final goal.</p>



<p>That has been Weah’s issue this season. He has shown the ability to be talented, but it comes and goes. Some of that is because of the style of play from Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri. Weah has played each game at right midfield. However, Allegri’s largely defensive tactics play Weah as a wing-back. That has been successful, as Juventus has the second-best defensive record in Serie A. Only league-leading Inter Milan have conceded fewer goals. Yet, with the national team, Weah thrives as an attacking player. Juventus fans are yet to see that ability in the black-and-white kit.</p>



<h2>Weah shoots down Everton loan, stays at Juventus</h2>

<p>The rumor of Weah moving to Everton is fresh, but it did not carry too much weight. What remains most interesting is that Juventus would be looking to offload Weah after just a few months in Turin. Weah has competed in the right midfield position with Andrea Cambiasso and Mattia De Sciglio. Both of those players are more defensive than Weah and perhaps provide more security in Allegri’s lineups. </p>



<p>For Everton, any kind of player would be a benefit for Sean Dyche. Whether Weah takes up a more defensive role or goes to his more traditional spot as a winger, Everton could use reinforcements at either position. Offensively, Everton has been one of the weaker teams in terms of scoring goals. After 21 games, Everton has 24 goals. Only three clubs have fewer goals in this <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/premier-league-tv-schedule/">Premier League</a> season. Defensively, Everton has been resolute. In true Sean Dyche fashion, only four clubs have conceded fewer goals than Everton this season.</p>



<p>Therefore, Everton provided an outlet to give Weah more chances offensively. However, the impending threat of relegation because of Everton’s 10-point deduction and the generally defensive style of Dyche may have steered Weah away.</p>



<h2>Keeping the Americans in Italy</h2>



<p>Staying in Serie A means Weah will continue to work as a teammate with Weston McKennie. Also, Juventus will battle against American international Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah from AC Milan.</p>

<p>Weston McKennie, alongside Christian Pulisic and Timothy Weah, has found himself sidelined as the Juventus midfielder pulled out from US Men’s National Team (USMNT) duty due to a knee issue.</p>



<p>The United States took control of the series with a 3-0 win on Friday in Austin, Texas. All three goals scored by Ricardo Pepi, Antonee Robinson, and Gio Reyna had <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/most-successful-americans-in-champions-league-history-20231029-WST-464940.html">McKennie</a>, a pivotal player in that game, credited with an assist.</p>



<p>The result of this game and the away leg on November 20 will determine not only which team advances in the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/concacaf-nations-league-schedule/">Nations League</a>. It will also decide which team advances in the race to host the prestigious <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/copa-america-tv-schedule/">Copa America</a> tournament in the United States in 2024.</p>



<p>The midfielder played the whole 90 minutes on November 17, but Gregg Berhalter will miss him for the return leg after the 25-year-old was sidelined due to a knee injury. </p>

<p>The news of his injury will cause anxiety for <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/teams/juventus-tv-schedule/">Juventus</a> as they get ready to play Inter Milan next weekend. He reportedly has tendinitis in his left knee. There has apparently been a recurrence of an old injury. However, the reason for McKennie’s absence from the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/nations/usmnt-tv-schedule/">USMNT</a> team is reportedly precautionary, according to <a href="https://football-italia.net/mckennie-departs-usmnt-squad-for-precautionary-reasons/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Football Italia</a>.</p>



<p>The matter is deemed not highly concerning, leading to his return home as a precautionary step. The report adds that the American star has a chance to play in next week’s Derby D’Italia against the Serie A top side.</p>

He is very attentive to all the details, he told me to learn a lot from my teammates, to have fun and be ready to improve.”</p>

<p>According to the <a href="https://www.juventus.com/en/news/articles/official-timothy-weah-joins-juventus" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">official club website</a>, the 23-year-old signed a five-year contract with the Bianconeri after spending four years at Lille.</p>



<p>The total cost of Weah’s transfer to Juventus was €10.3 million, split between two payments to Les Dogues plus bonuses. </p>



<p>The youngster, who has committed to the team for the next five years, is expected to take over for Juan Cuadrado in the long run.</p>



<h5>Weah’s family is not unfamiliar with Serie A</h5>



<p>Weah played in 102 games for French side Lille, scoring eight times. </p>



<p>Timothy, whose father George is the president of Liberia and a former Ballon d’Or winner with AC Milan, was born in the United States. </p>



<p>The 23-year-old versatile player was pivotal for the US Mens National Team (USMNT) in their 2022 World Cup campaign, starting every game and scoring a goal against Wales during group play.</p>



<p>He started his professional career at Paris St-Germain, where he secured the Ligue 1 title before embarking on a loan spell at Celtic. He played a key role in their 2018-19 season, helping the club win both the league and cup titles. Then, two years later, he helped Lille topple his former team PSG to the French title.</p>



<h5>Pulisic and Musah to follow suit?</h5>



<p>For the time being, Weah will join forces with Weston McKennie, whose future seems to lie elsewhere than in Turin. Meanwhile, there have been whispers that AC Milan may attempt a double-swoop, signing Christian Pulisic of <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/premier-league-tv-schedule/">Chelsea</a> and Yunus Musah of <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/la-liga-tv-schedule/">Valencia</a>.</p>



<p>There is a good likelihood that four of the United States national team’s most important starters will be playing in Italy’s Serie A when the new season begins. If a satisfactory offer arrives, Todd Boehly, the Blues’ owner, may be prepared to let Pulisic go this summer. Musah, on the other hand, may be on the move following Valencia’s terrible season, in which they avoided relegation by a single game.</p>

The 23-year-old American has been with French side Lille since 2019. Juve and Lille are close to agreeing a transfer for the player in a deal worth around $13 million.</p>



<p>According to <em>Sky Italy</em>, Weah has already agreed personal terms with the Old Lady. The fresh contract keeps the American in northern Italy until the summer of 2028. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano is also claiming that the move is practically all set to be completed soon.</p>

<h2>A key figure at Lille after slow start</h2>



<p>After playing in the New York Red Bulls academy, Weah joined Paris Saint-Germain’s youth setup at the age of 14. The American made just six total appearances for the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/psg-tv-schedule/">PSG</a> senior team before going out on loan to Celtic in 2019. Following the short-term move, Weah then made the permanent transfer to Lille.</p>



<p>The <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/nations/usmnt-tv-schedule/">USMNT</a> star’s freshman season with the Mastiffs, however, didn’t exactly go as planned. Weah suffered two significant hamstring injuries during the 2019/20 campaign. These setbacks forced the player to only make three total appearances in his first season with Lille. Nevertheless, Weah then became a mainstay in the team over the last three campaigns in France. That helped Weah establish himself at international level, too. <h2>Weah seems to be good fit for Juventus</h2>



<p>Weah appears to be a solid fit for the Italian outfit. Club manager Max Allegri likes versatile wide players that can play as wing-backs as well as further forward up front. The American certainly fits in this category. Weah featured at both full-back positions and out on the right flank for Lille last season.</p>



<p>The winger could join fellow USMNT star Weston McKennie at Juve. McKennie is currently under contract with the Italian giants until 2025. However, Allegri supposedly doesn’t have the midfielder in his plans at the club and he will most likely leave Juve this summer.</p>
