The kickoff between England and Sweden has been delayed 15 minutes to 3pm ET due to the temporary suspension of Ukraine-France. Hopefully the weather in Kiev will be more dry than the rain-soaked Donbass Arena.

England team: Hart Cole Lescott Terry Johnson Young Parker Gerrard Milner Welbeck Carroll

Sweden team: Isaksson; Granqvist, Mellberg, Olsson (J), Olsson (M); Svensson, Kallstrom; Larsson, Ibrahimovic, Elm; Elmander.

Needless to say, both teams need to win this match. A win for England will put them into the driving seat for their last game against Ukraine. Sweden, meanwhile, will be more desperate to pick up points after losing against Ukraine. This is a battle between two sides who know each other quite well. Let’s hope it’s a good result for England.

Before, during and after today’s game, post your rants, raves, questions and observations in the comments section below.

  1. Ben says:

Yeah and Yeah, who says Sweedish chicks are blonde

    • NC says:

In all liklihood I agree. However, the sunglasses and tight camera work leave a lot to the imagination.

      Why no England fans Alex???

    • Alex Wolcott says:

Yes and yes most likely. In terms of power ranking thus far I have to go with:
      1) Netherlands
      2) Croatia
      3) Sweden (but could potentially move ahead of Croatia if we got another camera angle.)
      4) Ukraine

Now if I’m Alex Muller I have a very tough decision coming up with Greece v. Russia, as there is great talent on both sides of that match.

  2. Dust says:

Thank goodness for that storm limiting lalas exposure!

  3. jtm371 says:

lets hope we get the Three Lions and not the three cubs!

  4. Dust says:

England look terrible, looks like Roy’s tactical master plan of starting a bigger forward has been countered by Sweden adding taller defenders…ahh shucks

  5. Pete says:

    Get in you beauty

  6. Paul says:

Get in my son! Made up for him! :-D

  7. Alex Wolcott says:

    BAD ASS cross.

  8. Dust says:

See how that works! Tempting the universe! You can address checks to “dust”. LoL take that weird universe karma!

  9. Pete says:

ooh ref took one then, lol

  10. Alex Wolcott says:

Oh man that Ibrahimovich scares the hell out of me.

  11. Dust says:

Carroll has played well, worked hard off the ball, Liverpool fans must be pissed lol

  12. The Gaffer says:

Brilliant header by Andy Carroll. So far, so good. But England has to be careful. Sweden is certainly dangerous.

I’m hoping England can hold on to the lead long enough for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to come on and run those tired Swedish legs ragged.

    The Gaffer

  13. Cody says:

Did he just say Stephen Lampard?

  14. Alex Wolcott says:

Maybe Carroll has ditched the whole “clean and sober” Liverpool persona and is drinking again, as this was apparently part of his formula for success with the Magpies.

  15. John says:

so nice to not have to listen to Taylor Twellman.

  16. dust says:

What kind of defending was that, Johnson is terrible

  17. Cody says:

“Once again England fail to hold on to a lead!!”
..pretty much sums up my life as an England Fan.

  18. jtm371 says:

    squeaky bum time

  19. dust says:

Liverpool responsible for both goals, c’mon England attack damn it! Bring on Defoe!

  20. dust says:

This always happens as an England fan, get ur hopes up then a punch in the head! Should know better! Damn it

  21. jtm371 says:

the three cubs are going to win out

  22. The Gaffer says:

What was Zlatan saying to Joe Hart after Mellberg’s second goal?

    The Gaffer

  23. dust says:

    In tatters on the floor

  24. The Gaffer says:

    Good goal by Walcott!

Now it’s time for England to get its act together and start playing more wisely. They can’t throw this game away again.

    The Gaffer

  25. dust says:

May as well put jimmy tarbuck at right back, Johnson is just terrible.

  26. Pete says:

Oh my god, back from kicking the cat around the house while calling this team every name under the sun

  27. jtm371 says:

The Three Lions are back what a match

  28. dust says:

    quality from welbeck!

  29. dust says:

Such a mess right now !!! Aaahh. Unreal!

  30. dust says:

Parker and Gerard have done a job today, unreal!

  31. jtm371 says:

i think all English house pets should take holiday during national tournaments for their well being.

  32. The Gaffer says:

That wasn’t easy, but congratulations to England on a huge win against Sweden. What a piece of class by Danny Welbeck to win it for The Three Lions.

A point is all England now needs in their finel game against Ukraine. However, Ukraine will need to beat England to go through.

    The Gaffer

  33. Pete says:

I hate being an England fan, it’s torture.

  34. CH says:

Great game by Walcott. My father was commenting how slow the Sweeds were so i told him they should put Walcott in. Good game by the England team tho. Also a good game by Ibra, he always looked dangerous, but Sweden is a poor team tho.

    • Pete says:

I think Sweden is a poor team, England made them look better than they are, but that’s because this England team is not good enough. Well, not without Rooney and Wilshere. I think England has to have all their best players on the field and playing their best to stand a chance and we never get either of those. There’s always 3 or 4 players injured and the ones that are there usually suck compared to the way they play for their clubs

  35. Pete says:

Ashley Young sucked tonight, he’s usually one of our better players but I don’t know what happened tonight

  36. Latic says:

Am I the only one who thinks that Ballack is a terrible analyst? Every time he is asked a question it’s unbelievably awkward, and he rarely actually answers the questions he is asked, and ten when he does it’s just cliche.

Also,, I’m pretty sure the commentator got Welbeck’s first name wrong after he scored.

    • Paul says:

you do know that english is not his first language right??

      • Latic says:

Of course I know that, and it’s a million times better than my German, but if it’s not good enough to converse on tv or understand what is being asked, then maybe espy shouldn’t have hired him in the first place. Roberto Martinez’s first language isn’t English either but he understands the questions he is being asked and gives insightful replies.

  37. Barry says:

At least Ballack has an excuse. What’s Lalas’ excuse? He American? :-)
