As the new Bundesliga kicks off this weekend, soccer fans in the United States will see a change regarding the Spanish-language coverage of the German top-flight league.
While FOX Deportes will continue to show games as they have done in the past, GolTV will no longer be broadcasting Bundesliga games. Instead, Univision Deportes is in.
Similar to last season, FOX Sports will sublicense 3-4 matches per weekend to Univision Deportes each round.
In total, between FOX Sports, FOX Deportes and now Univision Deportes, the Bundesliga will more accessible than ever before. While it’s a plus for the Bundesliga on US TV, imagine what the TV ratings could have been on Univision if Chicharito had stayed at Bayer Leverkusen.
A note to streaming subscribers: In previous seasons where GolTV televised Bundesliga matches, those games were not allowed to be streamed via streaming networks. We’ll look into whether that same policy remains with the games on Univision Deportes since there are far more streaming companies that offer Univision Deportes than GolTV.
Here are the Bundesliga games that will be shown in Spanish-language this weekend:

I’m disappointed in Univision, the claim is no air time because of horrendous liga mx (I’m Mexican and I don’t like it one bit) but they now sub-license Bundesliga but no time for Erevidisie?
Bundesliga matches are going to generate more viewers than Eredivisie. The Dutch league is frustrating for soccer fans in the US. No coverage, and there doesn’t appear to be a solution anytime soon unfortunately.
So you want them to air a less popular league that gets FAR less ratings than Liga MX and less than the Bundesliga because Miguel from WST wants to watch it? Good lord some on this site act like the networks are soccer charities that should bring air time because a few people want to watch a certain league.
What is GolTV filling the spots with instead?
Infomercials, reruns and coverage of the Primeira Liga (not necessarily in that order).

GolTV also airs the Brazilian, Uruguayan and Venezuelan leagues, plus the Liga Ascenso MX and some European domestic cups.
Speaking of which, Uruguayan journalist Alejandro Figueredo (Teledoce, GolTV Latinoamérica) will move to Miami in a few weeks to join the GolTV North America staff.
