Paris (AFP) – Paris Saint-Germain’s summer signing Jese Rodriguez requires surgery and faces up to three weeks on the sidelines after being diagnosed with appendicitis, Spanish media announced on Saturday.

Sports daily AS reported that the 23-year-old would be out for a month while Marca said the Spanish attacker would only be missing for two weeks.

The French champions have yet to confirm the reports, but French sports daily L’Equipe said on their website that Jese “had arrived at training on Saturday with stomach pains.”

The former Real Madrid player made his debut for Paris on Friday evening in the capital club’s 1-0 away win at Bastia in their Ligue 1 season-opener.

He came off the bench and was involved in the build-up to the only goal of the game, scored by Layvin Kurzawa.

The Spaniard signed a five-year deal with Paris for a fee thought to be around 25 million euros ($28 million; £22 million).
