Last month, Premier League club Swansea City launched their new home and away kits for the 2014/15 season.

The kits are designed and manufactured by adidas, while financial services provider GWFX (Goldenway Global Investments) return for a second season as Swansea’s main sponsors.

With their home kit, Swansea have gone for a pleasant, minimalist design.

Unfortunately GWFX’s presence on this shirt is anything but minimalist; its gaudy gold diamond logo draws the eye on an otherwise elegant, crisp Swans strip.

The shirt is based on the adidas Condivo 14 template, and it features a V-neck collar and a mesh pattern.

The shorts and socks are both white, with black detail.

Editor’s note: As a Swansea City supporter, I agree with Ben. The home kit design is perfect except for one thing — the sponsor logo, which ruins the look of the shirt. Take that logo away (or replace it with a better designed one), and you’ve got one of Swansea’s best shirts designs ever.

Replacing last season’s popular purple-and-yellow kit, the South Wales club have gone for a bold red-and-black away strip for 2014/15.

Based on the same Condivo 14 design template as the home kit, the road uniform’s sleeves and back are black, while the front is a half-and-half design. The adidas markings are in red, while the club’s crest, placed on the red half of the torso, is black.

The back of the shirts features a white arc running from shoulder to shoulder, highlighting the players’ names and numbers.

The shorts and socks are red, with black detail.

Again, GWFX’s logo spoils the jersey; the red-and-black color scheme is somewhat confused by the prominent diamond gold dashed across the middle.

Nevertheless, this is an attractive kit. The designers obviously wanted the players to stand out – and they will with this brave color combo – but they’ve smartly stopped short of ‘over the top’ territory, something too few away kits manage to do.
