The US Men’s National Team achieved a morale boosting 2-1 victory against Nigeria in Jacksonville on Saturday night to go into the World Cup undefeated in their 3 World Cup warmup matches.

It was a complete performance from the United States that will fill the players and fans with a lot of enthusiasm. The fact that USMNT striker Jozy Altidore was able to score not only his first goal of 2014, but a second one to follow up with, was a considerable achievement against a tough Nigeria side.

Here are the highlights from USMNT’s 2-1 victory against Nigeria.

The US has to be confident going into its opener against Ghana after the win over Nigeria. It looks like they can play with the top teams from Africa and now have to be a favorite over Ghana. Many felt when we saw the draw that the chances for a opening victory where only 50-50. Portugal looks like they may have a injury issue in the one player that makes they a cut above everyone else. That opens things up for the US.

May be I see only Red, White, and Blue but having more hopes today that the US can get out of the group.

I always had hope the US would advance out of the first round, even before yesterday’s game vs Nigeria.

I feel the Media (Lalas and others) and people in general aren’t giving Klinsmann and team credit that they can make it into 2nd round. The German media and public made the same criticism of Klinsmann when team in 2006, especially after Germany lost a friendly to Italy.

The two people that really annoy me right now are Lalas and Arena. Expect from Lalas but Arena should keep his trap shut and even if he privately doesn’t like Klinsmann or his tactics, publicly support the coach and the team.
