Roy Hodgson is concerned over the lack of English talent in the Premier League. While this shouldn’t be a surprise to Hodgson, it’s a bit of a cop-out in my opinion. There is plenty of English talent in the Premier League. You just have to be willing to try out players such as Grant Holt, Nathan Dyer, Danny Graham, Matt Jarvis, etc.

I’m not quite sure why Hodgson is concerned. England are ranked 3rd in the world at the moment and after a convincing win over mighty Moldova are on their way become the top ranked team. He just needs to enjoy the ride…

lack of English talent in EPL? where does he think they are? They aren’t in other top flight leagues certainly (Beckham MSL?) are they in the Championship League? That suggests they aren’t good enough to be in the EPL. Maybe he’s asking the wrong question – Why aren’t we developing better young talent? or just maybe they are there but English press and old school managers want to play the names and never give young players a shot.- Terry out- fantastic play a younger better player- Lampard-? Gerrard- sit them versus Moldavia and Feroah islands let someone else play- in other words look in the mirror Roy

This may not really be an issue of a lack of talent. Apparently, many English players(ok, maybe not many, but at least a substantial amount of them) are currently not in the first team of their respective clubs. This is especially so for the strikers(e.g. Andy Carroll, Wayne Rooney, Defoe, Welbeck) and others like Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain who have been falling out of the first team recently. This could explain why England may be losing out to other countries with players who may be taking the place of these English players.
