I wonder how many City supporters there are in the US. I suppose enough to have staged an east coast tour last year and a west coast tour this year.

Going to do my very best to show up in San Fran this July. Here’s hoping they’ll have a bevy of new talent on parade for the American audiences.

Avoid the expensive hotels downtown and try this place out at Ocean Beach–Ocean Park Motel
or if you don’t want to rent a car maybe the Carl Hotel in Cole Valley, which is right on the N-Judah. You can take Bart from SFO and transfer to the N-Judah. Come to SF–we need the visitors!

    • The Gaffer says:

I suspect there’ll be a lot of new Manchester City fans coming to these games too that have recently picked the team as their club to follow especially after their success this season and the FA Cup win.

They played the Portland Timbers in July 2010 – we are originally from Manchester – the game was a sell out……….I hope they play either Seattle or Portland this summer

  2. R2Dad says:

Not my favorite match-up, but at least the game is not at the ‘Stick. Club America will draw, but maybe not as well as Chivas would. SF is a good tourist destination–hopefully Given and some of the MC crown jewels will show.

    • somervillain says:

Hopefully they’ll bring better talent than last summer, when those who attended City matches on the East Coast were stuck watching Jô and a bunch of youth players.

      • The Gaffer says:

I agree. After watching City walk through those friendlies last summer, they were a poor advertisement for City. That was one of the reasons why I didn’t think they would do well this season (and I was proven wrong). The way they were playing was as if they didn’t care.

AT&T is of course so much better than Candlestick. The Chelsea v Club America at Stanford drew well in 2007, and the CA supporters were up for it, albeit in a smaller venue. From my observation at the Mexico v Paraguay friendly in Oakland a few weeks back, there were quite a few CA supporters. I’m a Chelsea fan, but may well turn up for this one because I think the atmosphere will be good and CA will draw, plus it is a great facility, and a favorable starting time (5pm from what I read).

  3. Bob says:

The ticket prices are a ripoff for the Manchester City game in San Francisco.
$225 for a ticket is crazy

  4. DianneB says:

looking forward to SF, have found Maggie McGarrys pub is the MCFC local supporters club drinking hole..See you all there

  5. j j says:

Can some of the player be contacted, anyone knows what hotel are they staying in? We can not come to any of the games, to far away…
