For soccer fans in the United States, the 2016/17 Premier League will herald two major changes.

First, the early kickoffs for Premier League games on Saturdays will begin at 7:30am ET instead of 7:45am ET. That’ll impact soccer fans on the west coast of the United States most who will need to ensure that they’re awake before 4:30am PT to watch the early Saturday matches.

While the Premier League hasn’t stated why the early Saturday games kick off 15 minutes earlier than normal, the 10am ET games will begin at the same time as before.

The second big change is the introduction of Friday games to the Premier League schedule. The first regular Friday night game will be August 19 when Manchester United hosts Southampton, live from 3pm ET on NBCSN, NBC Sports App and Sling Blue. The second one will be Friday, September 16 when Chelsea plays Liverpool at 3pm ET.

Although the Friday games won’t be every week, they present Premier League clubs a chance for an extra day of rest before they play in mid-week UEFA Champions League games the following week.
