Chelsea host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in the first Premier League game this weekend (Saturday, 8:45am ET on NBCSN in the US) as they look to bounce back from back to back defeats at the hands of West Ham United in the league and Stoke City in the Capital One Cup.

Needless to say, Jose Mourinho is under a lot of pressure at the moment and he simple has to win this one or it may just be the end of The Special One’s tenure at Chelsea.

With five defeats in the opening 10 Premier League matches, there is simply no way the Blues can allow this poor run of form to continue if they hope to make the top four at the end of the season, so a win here should be the priority on the minds of the Chelsea players.

For the visitors, Jurgen Klopp hasn’t had the best start to life in the Premier League after successive draws in the league.

However, the major problem for the Reds remains their lack of spark in the final third with the 3-2 victory over Aston Villa being the only occasion where Liverpool scored more than one goal in a game this season.

KEY STAT: Chelsea are unbeaten against Liverpool in the last eight matches in all competitions.

Team News

Chelsea will have to do without star striker Diego Costa who came off with a rib injury in the midweek tie at the Britannia, which means either Loic Remy or Radamel Falcao will lead the line for the Blues.

Branislav Ivanovic is still sidelined with a hamstring injury so Kurt Zouma may continue at the right side of the defense. Pedro Rodriguez and Thibaut Courtois are the other absentees for the hosts.

Liverpool will make do without the services of Christian Benteke and Daniel Sturridge, both of whom nurse knee injuries so Divock Origi should be the top striker for the Reds come Saturday.

Captain Jordan Henderson is also out while long-term absentee Jon Flanagan is ruled out of action until December.
