West Brom’s move for Tottenham’s Federico Fazio has broken down after the deal stalled over personal terms.

The defender was at the club’s training ground on Friday morning after the Baggies agreed a £5 million deal with Spurs.

He passed a medical, but Albion have been unable to reach an agreement with Fazio and are now actively pursuing other targets.

Press Association Sport understands the transfer could be revived as a loan deal but the Baggies are considering other options ahead of revisiting any move for the Argentina international.

Boss Tony Pulis was confident of signing the 28-year-old on Friday morning, saying: “He wants to show that he can not only compete but do well in the Premier League and I think that ambition, drive and desire is what you need in your club.

“He’s been a top player for Sevilla and I think he will be a top signing for the club.”

Fazio joined Spurs from Sevilla last year and played 31 times for the club last season but has yet to feature this season after the arrival of Toby Alderweireld.
