Copa America’s two biggest teams face off in what could be an enthralling match at the Estadio La Portada de La Serena tonight (7:30pm ET kickoff).

Both sides have won a combined 29 titles in this competition and the rivalry between them has been very fierce over the years.

Defending champions Uruguay were unconvincing in the opening group match, but managed to beat minnows Jamaica 1-0 to go top of the group after the first round of matches.

Argentina, on the other hand, threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Paraguay.

Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero had given the Albiceleste the lead in the opening period before second half goals from Nelson Valdez and Lucas Barrios rescued a point for Paraguay.

A win for Uruguay will almost certainly assure them of a place in the next round but Argentina still have it all to do against Jamaica even if they manage a win today.

A loss for Gerardo Martino’s men here could ensure qualification for the next phase out of their hands, depending on what happens in the other group match between Paraguay and Jamaica which takes place earlier in the day.

Team News

Martino is likely to stick with the same starting XI that played against Paraguay which means Messi, Angel Di Maria and Aguero will lead the line while Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain start from the substitutes bench once again.

For Uruguay, there were no casualties from the last match meaning that we should expect an unchanged lineup with Edison Cavani and Diego Rolan upfront. Luis Suarez is suspended and thus unavailable to play.
