We’re edging ever closer to a thrilling climax in a host of European leagues, with titles, spots in Europe and survival all to play for in the remaining weeks on the calendar.

The Premier League is set for a typically intriguing finale. Two games catch the eye in England this weekend, one of which is the arguably the biggest local derby match in the country. Elsewhere we have a clash between two of Spain’s elite and a game from the Bundesliga set to play a major role in determining who finishes in the European spots.

And while those divisions are winding down, stateside things are just getting going; the clash of the weekend in Major League Soccer will see two of the finest sides in the country lock horns.

All kick-off times are in Eastern Time. Enjoy your weekend and enjoy the games!

Borussia Monchengladbach vs. Borussia Dortmund

Saturday April 11, 9:30AM, GolTV and fuboTV

With Bayern Munich romping clear atop of the Bundesliga table, the most entertaining segments of the season in Germany have been the battles to avoid the drop and finish amongst the European spots. In the race for the latter, this clash between Monchengladbach and Dortmund is a vital one.

Monchengladbach are the home side and the form side coming into this fixture. Lucien Favre’s team have won three games in succession on the cusp of this one, including an extremely impressive win at the home of the runaway leaders. Champions League football is there for the taking for this team, but a win here would almost certainly clinch it.

Dortmund won’t have quite given up on bagging a European place of some sort yet. They’re just six points back from sixth place Augsburg as they continue to rebuild after that moribund beginning to the Bundesliga. You imagine a win Borussia Park is vital for them to preserve those admittedly slim hopes, however.

It’s a tough ask, as Monchengladbach have only lost one game in front of their own supporters all season. Subsequently, they’ll be the big favorites coming into this match, but after Dortmund’s morale-boosting win over Hoffenheim in the German Cup in midweek, they’ll feel confident of notching an important victory as they look to finish with a flourish.

Burnley vs. Arsenal

Saturday, April 11, 12:30PM, NBC and NBC Sports Live Extra

Arsenal have turned on the style since the turn of the year, abating fears they may not finish in the top four and conjuring some slim hopes of a late title charge. But they’ll be given a stern test of their new-found form when they tackle a dogged Burnley team at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The Clarets are fighting for their Premier League lives at the moment. Sean Dyche has done a remarkable job to keep his team in the hunt for survival, but for all the plaudits he’s received for the sterling work done by the club, it’ll count for nothing if they don’t finish 17th or higher. Just two points back on 17th place Hull City, they’ll certainly fancy their chances.

It’s tough to see Burnley taking any major steps towards survival this weekend, though. The Gunners are playing superbly at the moment and their performance against Liverpool in that 4-1 win last time out was their finest of the campaign. If they turn up at Turf Moor playing with similar incision and intensity, then they could blow the Clarets away.

A win here for Arsenal would push them to within four points of Chelsea, although the Blues would admittedly have two games in hand. But with Arsene Wenger’s side still to welcome the league leaders to the Emirates, he’ll be desperate for his team to keep the pressure on with a strong performance at a difficult venue.

Sevilla vs. Barcelona

Saturday, April 11, 2:00PM, beIN SPORTS, beIN SPORTS Espańol and fuboTV

Barcelona have a four-point lead atop the La Liga standings and as the weeks wind down, Luis Enrique will be desperate for his team to tick some tough challenges. One of the most difficult will be this trip to the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium to take on Sevilla.

A 4-0 win for the Blaugrana over Almeria last time out preserved their spot at the top of the shop, but Enrique decided to rest a lot of players, perhaps with this clash in mind. Indeed, the most notable omission saw Neymar sit out the match on the bench, but both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were able to cope fine without the Brazilian, bagging a goal and a brace respectively.

Sevilla at their own stadium represent a completely different prospect for the Catalonian outfit. Unai Emery’s side are still in the hunt for a Champions League spot and with just a few weeks to go, they’ll be acutely aware they can’t afford to lose any further ground on the likes of Valencia and Atletico Madrid.

The Andalusian side are pretty formidable at home too. Sevilla have yet to lose a match this season on home soil, winning 11 and drawing four of their 15 games. If Barca can become the first team take three point, then it’d be an emphatic indication of this team’s title credentials.

Manchester United vs. Manchester City

Sunday, April 12, 11:00AM, NBCSN and NBC Sports Live Extra

Manchester United can deliver a massive statement of intent this weekend when they play their local rivals Manchester City, as the two teams battle to secure their status as a top four side and confirm Champions League football for next season.

City have certainly boasted an edge in this fixture as of late. They’ve come out on top in five of the last six matches between the two eternal enemies, with a 1-0 win at the Etihad Stadium giving the champions the bragging rights earlier this season. At that point, Manuel Pellegrini’s men looked capable of defending their title, but a horrid run of form has altered their priorities.

A meek display and a subsequent defeat to Crystal Palace in their previous match was City’s fourth away defeat in a row in all competitions, with the lack of fortitude in this squad worryingly evident. If they’re going to get anything from their match with the Red Devils this weekend, a massive turnaround in mentality is needed.

Especially given how well United are playing. Louis van Gaal has stumbled upon a system that has accommodated the talents of a host of different players and suddenly this team looks cohesive, inventive and balanced. If they can perform with comparable conviction against City, they have ever chance of securing a vital victory and plunging their rivals a real fight for their top four status.

LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders

Sunday, April 12, 7:00PM, FOX Sports 1 and MLS Live

Neither LA Galaxy nor Seattle Sounders have enjoyed an overly prosperous start to the Major League Soccer campaign, making this encounter at the StubHub Center hugely significant as each side looks to spark their toiling seasons into action.

For the Galaxy especially, it’s been a very tough beginning. A loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps last time out was their second defeat in succession and the manner in which they were completely outplayed in that encounter will have stirred concerns amongst the club’s supporter base. Three in a row could potentially plunge the club into crisis mode.

The Sounders haven’t fared too much better, but at least they got a win under their belts last time out. They’ve yet to click as an attacking unit in the early weeks of the season, but the chance to go to the home of one of the top sides in the division and pick up a vital victory could potentially spark their campaign into life.

The two sides played out some gripping contests last season, with the Sounders getting the better of the Galaxy to take the Supporters’ Shield before the Los Angeles outfit turned the tables to win in the Conference finals in November. Both will be desperate to write the latest positive chapter in this burgeoning divisional rivalry.
