Over the past week, much has been written about the imminent futures of Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado and Chelsea players Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah, with each player’s fortune unwittingly tied together.

Chelsea need to offload salary before they can bring in another player, and Schurrle and Salah are the players Jose Mourinho is willing to let depart from Stamford Bridge in order to complete the deal for Cuadrado. Despite the manager’s praise for each of his current players, the London club have been in negotiations with Wolfsburg regarding a deal for Schurrle. While the Blues are also in talks with a number of Italian clubs over the sale of Salah – the latest report being that the Premier League leaders have offer Salah to Fiorentina as part of a deal for Cuadrado.

The issue for Mourinho is Wolfsburg, as well as the Italian clubs involved with Salah, want to take the Chelsea players initially on-loan. But the London club would like one or both deal to be permanent so they could then turn that money around to purchase Cuadrado from Florentina.

Chelsea are seeking roughly £23.5 million for Schurrle and £11 million for Salah.

Juan Cuadrado has expressed his desire to join the Premier League leaders. But Fiorentina do not have to sell the player to anyone unless a club triggers the Colombian’s £27 million release clause.

Last Friday, Mourinho informed the media that he was unsure if a deal for either player would me completed during this transfer window. But the Chelsea manager hinted that should one player leave, he would bring another one in to replace him.

“I don’t know if a deal is to happen,” Mourinho said. “If my club tells me we have a certain offer for a certain player we think is a good movement for us, because we work in the rules of Financial Fair Play sometimes we have needs, like we had in past transfer windows where we sold some players.”

“The question is to have a phenomenal offer and a player to be super keen of accepting a new challenge in his career. We don’t want to sell our players. If one moves, then we will bring somebody in, internationals.”
