Earlier today, the chief of the Catalan regional police force informed reporters that two Paris Saint-Germain fans were stabbed on Wednesday night following the French champions’ Champions League match against Barcelona.

Chief Albert Batlle explained that the crime was committed near the Camp Nou and the suspects are believed to be part of the notorious Boixos Nois ultras group. Batlle stated that the tragic event could be “revenge” for an incident which took place in Paris two years ago when rival ultras groups clashed near the Parc des Princes.

Regardless of the chief’s statement, the investigation is ongoing and police have not ruled out other motives for the attacks.

According to police sources, two hooded attackers set up a PSG fan with knives in the Avenida Madrid at around midnight. That victim is reported to be in stable condition.

Later, a second individual was attacked in the area around the Camp Nou while walking with two other PSG supporters.

The Catalan radio station RAC1 interviewed a fan who was in the company of one of the victims. He said that his party was attacked in Felipe de la Paz Street and that the assailants were shouting “Long live Barcelona” during the assault.

The individual said that he was punched and saw his friend bleeding from a knife wound in the arm. He also stated that there had been no provocation on their part.

Police are analyzing security camera footage taken from the area in an effort to identify and apprehend the attackers.

The victim told RAC1 that PSG supporters were let out of the Camp Nou at the same time as Barcelona fans, something that not usual protocol at European matches.
