[Manchester United vs. Queens Park Rangers will be shown LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 11:00am EST]

It is only the fourth match of the Premier League season, but the eyes of the world will be on the Theatre of Dreams today as Manchester United take on Queens Park Rangers. The game marks the first time this year that manager Louis van Gaal will be able to field a team made up of all six of his summer signings.

And as fate would have it, the match at Old Trafford is the only fixture on the Premier League schedule for today. So it goes without saying that every team in the English top flight – and likely the lower divisions – will be tuned in to see how the new players fair in their Manchester United debuts.

Yesterday, last season’s top four in Spain battled it out – Barcelona v. Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid v. Atletico Madrid. While those players and managers recover from the roller coaster ride of emotions and physical combat, they too will be tuned into the events unfolding in Manchester today. The same can be said for the teams in the various leagues across Europe and the rest of the world.

For those in European competition later this week, Champions League preparations will be put on hold for a few more hours in order to see if United’s new players will do a better job of grasping Van Gaal’s footballing philosophy.

Make no mistake about it, English clubs aren’t the only ones who will be concerned should United put four or five goals past QPR today. If the twenty-time champions of England show any signs of shaking off the rust from the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era today – all of Europe will be anxious.

Yes, United won’t be participating in the Champions League this season. But all it takes is a top four finish and the club will be right back in the European tournament next year. And after splashing £160 million this summer – with the promise of more being spent in January and next summer – executives at opposing football clubs will be hoping their rosters won’t be the next to be raided by the Manchester club.

Fans worldwide will be tuning in to see perhaps the best number 9 in all of football return to action, Radamel Falcao. How will the Colombia international gel with United’s attacking force of Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney?

Will Angel Di Maria continue to show the form that he has been producing over the past few years for club and country in his Old Trafford debut?

Where will Daley Blind actually play for United? In midfield? In defence?

Will Ander Herrera be able to bounce back from his injury and show the form he displayed during United’s summer tour of the United States?

How will Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo react to making their debuts at the Theatre of Dreams?

The eyes of the world will be tuned in.
