FOX Sports today confirmed that it won the bid to renew the US media rights to the UEFA Champions League for seasons 2015-18.

The news regarding the renewal of the rights deal broke on December 6, but today’s official announcement from FOX shines more light on the deal.

Some of the interesting revelations are:

1. All matches will also be streamed live on the FOX Sports GO app. Matches will also be available via FOX Soccer 2Go.

2. FOX’s rights deal also includes the Caribbean for 2015-18.

3. The deal also includes the UEFA Europa League.

4. FOX Sports has picked up the English and Spanish-language rights.

5. FOX Sports 1 is slated to carry two live UEFA Europa League matches per week, while FOX Sports 2 televises two live matches and encores of the FOX Sports 1 matches.

  1. Porque? says:

Reading the press release “between the lines”, there is no mention of what FOX plans to do with the Spanish-language US rights to the Europa League.

Can anyone say “sublicense to ESPN Deportes”?

    I know you can…

  2. Proud Eurosnob says:

Fox better partner with DirecTV, not everyone likes to watch a match via the internet when one’s preferred method of watching is via a big screen.
