NBC Sports Network Transitioning Name to NBCSN Beginning With Stoke-Liverpool Match

nbcsn NBC Sports Network Transitioning Name to NBCSN Beginning With Stoke Liverpool Match

In conjunction with NBC Sports Network launching its Premier League coverage beginning the weekend of August 17, the network is transitioning its name to NBCSN.

According to NBC Sports, “Starting with the Liverpool-Stoke City match — coverage begins at 7 a.m. ET on Saturday — NBC Sports Network will increasingly be referred to by commentators and within on-screen graphics as NBCSN. Viewers will see and hear NBCSN with greater frequency across all NBC Sports Group platforms and marketing initiatives in the months leading up to the 2014 Sochi Olympics in February.”

“The high-profile nature of our Premier League launch is the perfect platform to increase our campaign of branding NBC Sports Network as NBCSN. This is a natural evolution from the longer channel name to the acronym, as NBCSN is streamlined visually and a faster read,” said John Miller, CMO, NBC Sports Group. “Premier League coverage will feature NBCSN as its primary mark. By the Winter Olympics in February, the transformation will be complete, and the Games will be used to solidify NBCSN as the network’s name and brand.”

  1. Paul G says:

Next step: secure the nbcsn.com domain. The National Board for Certification of School Nurses isn’t the most important NBCSN anymore.

  2. Spangulo says:

To confusing. I’m gonna confuse it with MSNBC.

Now there’s going to be an NBC, MSNBC, NBCSN….wait till ABC probably get in on the act too. Or BBC America will be renamed BBC North America, then shortened to BBCNA.

    • leafsfan1967 says:

Don’t worry about BBC North America. There’s two separate entities, BBC American and BBC Canada with two very different program schedules.

    • CTBlues says:

You don’t have to worry about ABC because ABC Sports was killed a few years ago because it was redundant since Disney owns ABC and ESPN. ABC doesn’t have dedicated news or finance networks. The only other station they have is ABC Family.
