The tournament hosts Brazil will play the World and European Champions Spain on Sunday at Estadio do Maracana.

For viewers in the United States, the broadcast for the match will kick off at 5:30pm ET on ESPN and WatchESPN.

Spain confirmed their place in the final on Thursday evening after beating Mario Balotelli-less Italy 7-6 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in regulation and after extra time. Despite the victory, Spain took their time getting started in the first-half and the Italians could have easily gone two or three-up in the semi-final.

Brazil have had the advantage of playing in front of their home crowd throughout the tournament and that asset will prove even more helpful in the final, as the Brazilian supporters have failed to take to the Spain side during each of their matches so far.

Both teams remain unbeaten in the Confederations Cup and there isn’t much to separate the two sides on paper. Fernando Torres and Neymar are expected to set the tone for the finale as each sides’ main threat.

Brazil may have the benefit of extra rest as Spain’s encounter with Italy needed extra-time and penalties to secure a winner, whilst the Spaniards will go into the final full of confidence having scored every penalty in the shoot-out.

The final on Sunday will be the fourth major final Spain will play in five years, while a regenerated youthful Brazil side will hope to rekindle its glory under Filipe Scolari.

For the neutral, Spain versus Brazil is the final of dreams, even Spain captain Iker Casillas said: “I think everybody was waiting for this Confederations Cup final to be Spain vs. Brazil”.

The final will be a good insight for the rest of the world as the Confederations Cup has been labeled as the ‘warm-up’ for the FIFA 2014 World Cup Brazil.
