  1. This is a good sign, OX starting, Welbeck starting, I hope this works out and Roy has no choice but to keep playing them. If he play’s Parker and Gerrard in the center, that should be solid enough, it’s really a shame that Adam Johnson isn’t in the squad, him playing opposite OX would offer some great attacking football.

    1. Agree completely. I would rather see England go down in flames playing some hungry young talent than watch the same old cadavers wheeled out to produce the same old results……although I don’t think Carroll for Crouch was exactly what I had in mind. 😉

  2. sian…. very lazy to listen to all the podcasts. How unfortunate! Would have loved something fun to do now, hope this epl talk site offers one!

  3. I thought welbeck played well, so did defoe, he was unlucky to not score. Was it just me or did Gerard look tired and slow/past it? Just watched the “year in the life of Stevie g” on fox soccer he really was a great player, but that was 6 years ago…I don’t think he can play for 90 at full international tournament level.

    1. Damn! I hate to keep agreeing with anyone, but you are right on the mark (again). I know it’s sacrilege, but I wondered, on form, why Stevie G. was even in the squad. He is going to keep on getting chosen, not because of what he can do now, but what he did in the past. Personally, I like him…..but that doesn’t win you matches. On the other hand, I can’t say who would have done better.

The midfield did not impress today, other than OX who, while not always effective, showed great energy and willingness to attack. England need more of that.
