Premier League Sunday Matchday, Gameweek 9 Open Thread

Premier League Sunday Matchday, Gameweek 9 Open Thread

Sunday’s Premier League matches features three fascinating matches, a wonderful trio of Stoke against Man United, Liverpool versus Blackburn and Manchester City against Arsenal.

All three matches have big ramifications. Will Manchester United will be able to bounce back from a week of controversy against Stoke? Will Liverpool beat Blackburn to keep Hodgson’s job safe for one more week? And is Manchester City a Premier League title candidate if they can beat Arsenal?

Feel free to use this open thread to vent or add observations, questions or comments.

‘You’re sh!t, and Rooney says you are’. Quality banter from the Stoke fans

Here’s why I cannot stand Stoke City and I hope they go down!!! In a team full of bone-breakers and beer-league players, they have only 1 (one) footballer, Tuncay, and that idiot Pulis is not even playing him…Ricardo Fuller and K. Jones are not worthy to carry the cleats of Tuncay; what a joke…
I really really really hope Stoke goes down. They play anti-football…lots of passion and hard work, zero talent (wait, how about Rory Delap’s long throws? does that qualify as talent? What about Ryan Shawcross’s 3-5 attempts per game to maim a player from the other team?)
The Turk comes on for 20 minutes and shows his magic…he really needs to leave this Sunday league team…his talent will be better appreciated elsewhere.

      Here you go Ivan, http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ricardo+fuller+goals&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=rq5&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&prmd=vno&source=univ&tbs=vid:1&tbo=u&ei=2HfETOPKCuig4Qajq-W5Aw&sa=X&oi=video_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCIQqwQwAA

Have a look at a few of those, he’s crap isn’t he? Given that I’ve seen Fuller pretty much every home match and a few away over the past four and a half seasons I feel that I’m suitably qualified to tell you he’s easily Tuncay’s equal.
In fact I’d say he suits us better because he’s not as lightweight as Tuncay.

As for team full of bone breaker’s and Sunday League players that’s hyped bull shit. Stoke are handicapped by the fact that they haven’t been in the Premier League since it’s inception and shouldn’t really have managed to stay in it with the resources that we have in comparison to most other clubs. Combine that with the two tier system of refereeing that exists in the Premier League, and shown eloquently today by Andre Marriner. Having the second lowest wage bill yet finishing mid-table twice despite these disadvantages gleefully inflicted by those who sit at the top table deserves more respect than we are given.

I’d hazard a guess that you follow the Beautiful Passing Gnomes and are therefore a bitter and twisted, blinkered individual.

      • The Gaffer says:

Cleats are the American term for soccer boots (or sports boots). It’s a strange word, I agree.

I can’t check out the link until I get home…my work server blocks all streaming sites…
I will give you credit for a great atmosphere at the Britannia every game. But that’s about the only positive thing I see when I think of Stoke.
Neville should have been red-carded for a 2nd yellow (but the yellow he received was soft, to say the least)…
United should have had a penalty for a foul on Evra…
I’m sorry, I really don’t have much else to say about Stoke…you guys have Ryan Shawcross and Rory Delap…enough said…
I am all about Cinderella teams, but at least Blackpool and West Brom try to play football…Stoke City…not so much!

  3. Miak says:

Always impressed with the atmosphere at the Britannia.
United’s inability to hold onto a lead is troubling.

  4. BBC says:

    Arsenal looks good 12 v 10

  5. IanCransonsKnees says:

Please explain how Gary Neville stayed on the pitch until he got subbed. Ivan I’ll put you a couple of links up to show you why Fuller is Tuncay’s equal. Given xou only watch us on the box your opinion is null and void.

  6. AJ says:

Javier Hernandez, He’s a beast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idhbrxSlKxM If him an Rooney (when he decided to get serious) come on, it might just be another red devil year.

With that being said, I agree that Man U not being able to hold on to a lead is not good.

  7. the devil himself says:

someone’s got gis stoke glasses on i see.how is it you fail to mention the two clear penalties the referee overlooked.once when evra was pushed and when the ball went against the players hand
