German National Team To Be Awarded National Honours After World Cup Display
After a third-place finish from a young but vibrant German national team who surprised football fans around the globe with their brand of football and their exciting young players, the President of Germany, Christian Wulff, will award the players and the coach for their efforts.
Germany’s President, Christian Wulff, spoke at a press conference after Germany’s win over Uruguay and announced that Joachim Loew would receive the Federal Cross of Merit for his efforts in creating what could be the beginnings of a new golden age of German football, and also announced that the players, who were amongst the best in the competition, will each receive a Silver Laurel to commemorate their fantastic display at the World Cup.
