EPL Talk Podcast: Weekend Review Show

EPL Talk Podcast Logo draft 300x242 EPL Talk Podcast: Weekend Review Show

This weekend’s EPL Talk review show features Laurence McKenna, Kartik Krishnaiyer and Richard Farley discussing Chelsea downing Arsenal, the stalemate at White Hart Lane, and Liverpool’s victory in the Merseyside Derby. That, a close look at the relegation battle, a look at England’s Euro 2010 draw, and a look back at Friday’s news: John Terry, removed from his Three Lions captaincy.

Don’t forget that the EPL Talk Podcast is the only Premier League interview and analysis podcast available for free. In the past few weeks, we’ve interviewed legends of the game such as Steve McManaman, Efan Ekoku, Martin Chivers and Robbie Earle as well as experts such as Declan Hill, Simon Kuper, Misha Sher, Matt Dickinson, Andy Brassell and many others. Why pay $40 a year to rival podcasts when you can subscribe to the EPL Talk Podcast for FREE featuring interviews with the biggest names in football?

I wish this podcast turned into a vodcast. It could be guys sitting at a round table having a pint and talking about the game, almost like FSC’s super sunday plus but more competent and with less commercials. There would be nothing like it and it would be a nice touch to this site to have more videos.

I want to see West Ham Utd go down, but there are so many weak teams this year though. I think this year justifies the EPL reducing the 1st tier to 18 teams. Hull City and Burnley better capitalize on their wins this weekend and win mid week as well.

  3. Kevin Ryan says:

What is with the talk about Hull being doomed if they go down. The “expert” talks about the signing of Altidore. Does he realize that Jozy is there on loan? Does he know that they turned down a 5 million pound offer for Hunt? Come on guys, I love the effort but let us deal in facts.

I think its interesting that all these guests listed above were guests that were first grabbed by World Football Daily… I think I pay for the WFDPremium Site because those boys are original, they know their shit, and they are much more entertaining.

Dont get me wrong, everyone should listen to EPL Talk because it is free. but the fact that you dont get a daily show live, and a podcast that you can catch regularly at a set time, explains how professional their product is in comparison to this product. Plus, they offer things that this site just doesn’t. Again, I am not saying people shouldnt follow here, but the fact of the matter is, $40 a year is nothing for the product they offer.

    Cheers,
    Rafa

    Keep up the good work

Rafa, the podcast is released every evening around the same time, so it does have a set daily schedule. We sometimes take days off now and again just as WFD does.

To me, $40 is a lot of cash to spend when there are more than 50 quality soccer podcasts out there that are available for free. But yes, there is room for many podcasts – and many of the EPL Talk readers and listeners also subscribe to WFD. It’s up to each person what they want to do.

Yes, the WFD show is more entertaining but the interviews that EPL Talk conduct are not about entertaining people. We focus on delivering intelligent interviews that we feel are a lot more informative.

And, lastly, I have to disagree with what you wrote about “Declan Hill, Simon Kuper, Misha Sher, Matt Dickinson, Andy Brassell and many others. I think its interesting that all these guests listed above were guests that were first grabbed by World Football Daily.”

EPL Talk interviewed Simon Kuper wayyyy before WFD was even born. And we interviewed Matt before WFD did. Yes, WFD did interview Hill and Sher before us. But we first interviewed Brassell almost a year ago (see http://epltalk.com/interview-andy-brassell/4625 ).

Keep up the good work too Rafa. At the end of the day, soccer fans in the States and around the world win by having a ton of great interviews to choose from.

      Cheers,
      The Gaffer

I find the pronouns being used a bit interesting.

As The Gaffer alludes, Rafa is the producer of World Football Daily. The “they” references should really be “we,” as Rafa does as much (if not more) work for that show as anybody – very good work, IMO. For the hours you heard the WSR hosts on mic, Rafa spends another 1-2 in studio pounding out that show.

I thought World Soccer Daily was a very good show. For a while, I listened to it often, as Rafa knows. I wrote a lot about what happened to that show for World Soccer Reader.

I have not listened to the show for a while, so I can not speak to its current quality.

I certainly do not begrudge anybody’s decision to pay for the content they want. However, as The Gaffer points out, the comparisons can work both ways.

We will have one hour with Andy Brassell starting tomorrow. The first half of the interview will be on Major League Soccer Talk on Tuesday. The second will be here, Wednesday.

I was very happy with the conversation I had with Andy last week. I think EPL, MLS Talk listeners can rightfully expect a unique, very detailed footy discussion.

Keep up the good work boys, great information and great presentation. I really appreciate KK and LM thoughts on the JT story. From listening to many England pods too many fans where looking for a way out for JT. He got what was coming to him. And it seems to me nobody really talks about JT’s wife and the hurt she must feel and the kids are to young now but there will find out when they start going to school. Anyway keep up the good work again.
