Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago became the second South American international to have to miss an extended period of time after Champions League play.  Gago will be out for close to a month after suffering a level two muscle tear in his left thigh in Wednesday’s Champions League opener against BATE Borisov.

Gago will come back just in time for the Madrid derby, but will most likely be out for his country’s World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and in Chile come mid-October.  Him as well as Atlético striker Diego Forlán will miss the River Plate derby.
