Manchester United Offer £26m For Juventus’ Claudio Marchisio: Daily Soccer Report

Claudio Marchisio Manchester United Offer £26m For Juventus Claudio Marchisio: Daily Soccer Report

Manchester United are ready to offer Juventus £26million for Italian midfielder Claudio Marchisio, according to a report today by Corriere Dello Sport.

The Italian news agency reports that a source close to David Moyes gave them the tip. Manchester United are frustrated after seemingly losing out on their chase to try to sign Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas. Now their attention has turned to Marchisio, 27, who has 38 caps for Italy and is an attacking central midfielder. Marchisio has played for Juventus during his entire career except for a brief loan to Empoli in 2007-08.

Marchisio is in Juventus’s squad for tonight’s International Champions Cup game against Everton, which kicks off at 11pm ET in San Francisco. For viewers in the United States, the match will be shown on FOX Soccer, ESPN Deportes and WatchESPN.

What’s your opinion about Claudio Marchisio? Would he fit in well at Manchester United, and is he the type of player who can make a difference for the Red Devils? Have your say in the comments section below.

10 Responses to Manchester United Offer £26m For Juventus’ Claudio Marchisio: Daily Soccer Report

  1. Pete Q says:

Marchisio is a solid midfielder. He’d be a great signing.

But again, I think United are going after a player who is not going to leave his club and/or the club won’t sell.

Juve are not letting this player go. He helped them win Serie A and get to the quarterfinal of the Champions League last season (where they unfortunately squared up against Bayern Munchen).

    • Abdul Azim says:

Journalists must be really HARDUP dreaming up ridiculous stories like this as Juve and Marchisio do not have an interest in dealing with a transfer right now!

  2. CTBlues says:

Now Shea is hurt again our guys just can’t get a break.

  3. Dean Stell says:

United’s transfer strategy is starting to remind me of what I end up doing in career mode in FIFA. It’s like they searched for midfielders with an Overall greater than 85 and just started bidding on all of them in the hopes of getting one of them.

  4. Paul says:

united waited too long to get reinforcements.

  5. Mufc77 says:

Good all round player who would compliment Carrick Well. Can’t see Juve letting him go cheap especially since they know UTD really need to sign a decent midfielder.

  6. goatslookshifty says:

I have my doubts with Italians in the Prem, especially those who have never played outside Italy. I’m trying to think of any who have been top class recently for top English teams. Anyone?

  7. NeilO says:

Marchisio is worth at least 40m

    • Mufc77 says:

If you go by the inflated fees everyone else is paying then yes I agree.

I still reckon the biggest mistake Utd made was not convincing Strootman to sign after he had allegedly agreed to the deal. Getting a young Dutch midfielder for less than 20m would have been a bargain this summer and like Marchisio he would have slotted in nicely beside Carrick.

  8. Frill Artist says:

    Don’t think he’ll leave.
