Today has to be one of the most entertaining days in the history of the second tier of English football with the day’s games producing 44 goals at a staggering average of over 3.5 goals per game.

This included a great day’s work for the Welsh clubs in the Championship as victories for Swansea and Cardiff brought Norwich back to the field, setting up a three horse race for the last automatic promotion places.

Two stunning strikes from Fabio Borini and David Gower put Swansea in control against Norwich with Tamas Priskin giving the score line an extra sheen.

Fellow Welsh side Cardiff sealed their victory away at Doncaster courtesy of two late goals from substitute Jason Koumas to keep the Bluebirds in the thick of the promotion battle.

The highlight of the high scoring affairs was the seven goal thriller between Nottingham Forest and Reading where the Royals secured an injury time victory in a game where the momentum of the game swung between both sides with the lead changing four times.

The shock of the day however was the demolition that runaway leaders Queens Park Rangers encountered away at lowly Scunthorpe who romped to a four goal to one victory to give themselves the slightest glimmer of hope at the bottom of the Championship.

There were victories for Barnsley, Ipswich, Leicester, Millwall, Middlesborough and Hull whilst Portsmouth and Preston shared the points at Fratton Park.

With all the goals and late drama there is sure to be plenty to entertain those watching the Football League Show tonight.
