Dating app Bumble is collaborating with Ted Lasso to bring Bantr to real life. For those that haven’t watched the show, Bantr is a dating app that is featured in season two. The app played a significant plot line in the sophomore season of the show. Essentially, Bantr requires users to chat without seeing any photos of the other person.

“As huge fans of ‘Ted Lasso,’ we were so excited to bring the Bantr Live experience to our community,” said Bumble’s Global VP of Partnerships Olivia Yu.

“Bantr Live enables our community to connect with someone unexpected and learn more about a person before seeing them. We look forward to people on Bumble having fun with Bantr Live and connecting and dating in a new and exciting way.”

The Bantr service starts Thursday, Oct. 13. It runs every Thursday night through the end of the year. In that time, people can use Bantr Live. Instead of swiping left or right, ‘players’ will connect with another user at random.

These players will be matched together based on age, location, and gender preferences. No user will be able to view another person’s profile or photo. The only information players will see is their name.

The purpose of Bantr Live is for people to connect with new users. Ideally, these are people that previously only looked at photos, and nothing more. Players will receive three minutes to chat and get to know each other before possibly continuing.

After the three minutes is up, the app asks both players if they want to continue the conversation. From there, users can view a small photo of the other person. Players can also choose to move on to the next match as well.

Launched in 2014, users often describe Bumble as a feminist dating app. Whitney Wolfe Herd helped create the idea for the app. She left Tinder as Vice President of Marketing earlier that year. Bumble’s valuation as a company exceeds $13 billion. Also, it is perhaps the most popular dating app in the country.
