Tomorrow, Germany takes on Portugal at 12 ET in Salvador, Brazil. This is perhaps the most highly anticipated matchup in this World Cup’s group stage. Both teams will be very nervous as this match shall probably decide who wins the Group of Death.

Germany is one of the favorites to win this World Cup. First, though, they must get through the Group of Death. Their first obstacle is playing reigning Ballon D’or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal. Let’s take a look at what will probably be Die Mannschaft’s starting lineup for the Group G opener.

GK: Manuel Neuer

Arguably the best goalkeeper in the world right now, the Bayern Munich goalkeeper will have a large task of keeping Cristiano Ronaldo at bay. He could very well come through, though.

LB: Jerome Boateng

Another Bayern Munich player, Boateng is a very talented and versatile defender. Later in the tournament, he will be faced with the burden of facing his brother Kevin-Prince Boateng.

CB: Mats Hummels

The talented Borussia Dormund defender will most likely put in a very strong performance for Germany. He must keep striker Helder Postiga at bay.

CB: Per Mertesacker

The Arsenal centre-back will be able to make up for his lack of pace with his tackling against this Portugal side.

RB: Phillip Lahm

Arguably the best defender in the world, as well as one of the most versatile players in the world. The Bayern Munich captain will be all over the pitch tomorrow contributing at both ends.

MC: Toni Kroos

One of the best young midfielders in the game, the Bayern Munich man should be a very creative playmaker tomorrow against Portugal.

MC: Bastian Schweinsteiger

The Bayern Munich vice-captain will be the defensive rock in midfield for Germany tomorrow.

AML: Lukas Podolski

The Arsenal winger will be very good at putting in crosses for Germany tomorrow. His crosses will trouble the Portugal defense.

AMC: Mesut Ozil

Ozil must bounce back for Germany after a relatively tough first season for Arsenal. Expect him to do just that.

AMR: Mario Gotze

One of the best young footballers right now, the Bayern Munich forward will play very well tomorrow against Portugal.

FC: Thomas Muller

Another of the best players in the game right now, the Bayern Munich man will set havoc upon the Portugal defense tomorrow with his pace and skill.

Portugal have a very talented lineup. They will definitely challenge Germany for first place in this Group of Death.

GK: Rui Patricio

The goalkeeper for Sporting in Portugal was a pivotal part of the Lisbon team’s side run to second place in this season’s Primeira Liga. Expect him to be challenged to stop the powerful Germany attack tomorrow, though.

LB: Fabio Coentrao

The Real Madrid man is a decent footballer. He will struggle, though, to keep Mario Gotze at bay tomorrow.

CB: Bruno Alves

The Fenerbache man is always a decent option in the central defensive role. However, he will most likely struggle to stop the strong German attack.

CB: Pepe

After enjoying a successful season with Real Madrid, the centre-back will be looking to emulate that success with Portugal in the World Cup.

RB: Joao Pereira

Expect to see the Valencia man rampaging down the right flank tomorrow and putting crosses into the box.

DM: William Carvalho

One of the most underrated young players in the game, the Sporting man will be looking to make a strong impression in the World Cup.

MC: Raul Meireles

The Fenerbache man is always a good choice for midfield. Expect him to be a defensive rock for Portugal tomorrow.

MC: Joao Moutinho

The young Monaco playmaker will me looking to supply the Portugese attackers with his brilliant passes tomorrow against Germany.

WL: Cristiano Ronaldo

Arguably the best player in the game right now, the Real Madrid man and reigning Ballon D’or winner will easily trouble the German defense tomorrow if fully fit.

WR: Nani

The Manchester United winger will be very good at putting in crosses for Ronaldo and Postiga tomorrow.

FC: Helder Postiga

Expect the Valencia man to play as a secondary attacker to Cristiano Ronaldo tomorrow. He will, however, be a useful attacking choice for Portugal.

France plays Honduras in a World Cup Group E game today at 3pm ET/Noon PT, in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Les Bleus will be highly expected to dismantle their Central American opponents, but anything could happen. France will be without their star player, Bayern Munich left winger Franck Ribery. Expect Real Sociedad’s young Antoine Griezmann to fill in for him.

France predicted lineup:

GK: Hugo Lloris

A very underrated goalkeeper, Lloris is a very solid choice in goal. Should Honduras get any chances, expect the Tottenham goalkeeper to come up with a few big saves.

LB: Patrice Evra

Expect to see the Manchester United man gliding down the left flank and putting crosses into the box.

CB: Laurent Koscielny

Another very underrated footballer, Koscielny had a very impressive season with Arsenal while helping to guide them to FA Cup glory.

CB: Raphael Varane

Easily one of the best young players in the game, expect the Real Madrid man to form a great partnership with Koscielny.

RB: Bacary Sagna

Expect Manchester City’s newest signing to put in a solid showing at right-back for the French.

MC: Yohan Cabaye

Expect the relatively new signing for PSG to be a very strong creative force for Les Bleus.

MC: Paul Pogba

Possibly the best young footballer in the world right now, the Juventus man will be a rock for France in the midfield and expect him to have a strong candidacy for the Best Young Player Award in this tournament, as he has already been named Europe’s best player under 21.

MC: Blaise Matuidi

The PSG midfielder is a defensive rock in midfield who should put in a very strong performance.

WL: Antoine Griezmann

Griezmann, will have big shoes to fill as he is replacing the injured Franck Ribery, he will not disappoint.

WR: Mathieu Valbuena

The diminutive Marseille man should put in a very strong showing on the right wing.

FC: Karim Benzema

Benzema should play very well considering that he was an integral part of this season’s Real Madrid double winning team.

Barcelona’s 2-2 draw against Getafe on Saturday was a big blow to the Catalan giant’s title hopes. Given their performances in domestic and international competition this year, FC Barcelona could use new signings to upgrade their aging core. Combine this with the impeding transfer ban that is under appeal, the club will need to act fast to secure the right players for the long term.

The following is a list of some possible targets for the club (in no specific order), as well as a few players who could make way for these transfers to occur.

IN:

1. Marc-Andre ter Stegen
The goalkeeper’s current club, Borussia Monchengladbach, has already announced a transfer agreement has been reached with an unnamed foreign club, rumored to be Barcelona. The 22-year-old is highly regarded and could be a massive upgrade over the departing Victor Valdes.

2. Pepe Reina
Reina is another goalkeeper long targeted by the Catalans. The Spaniard and former Barcelona player has made it clear that he would be open to a move back to the side where he started his career. This move is a no-brainer given his form on loan at Napoli this year and the goalkeeping situation at Liverpool.

3. David Luiz
Another longtime Barcelona target, the Brazilian center-back is rumored to be the subject of a 35 million euro bid by the Catalan side. Given his reduced playing time this year as well as Chelsea’s success with him in the side, it makes perfect sense that he would be the target of a number of bids this summer.

4. Thiago Silva
While a bit optimistic, a bid for Thiago Silva could be in the cards for Barcelona. Given PSG’s financial clout and the fact that Silva just recently joined in 2012, it may be tough to convince the Parisians to sell. If they are successful, the Brazilian defender could be a huge asset as he is arguable the best defender in soccer right now.

5. Martin Skrtel
Another Liverpool player of interest is Martin Skrtel. The Slovakian is leading all defenders in the Premier League in goals this season while imposing himself at the opposite end of the pitch. While Liverpool’s entrance into the Champions League may prove to be a stumbling block for the transfer, Skrtel could be a great signing for the club.

6. Aurelien Chedjou
A young center-back playing for Galatasary, Chedjou is being mentored by fellow countryman and former Barcelona talisman Samuel Eto’o. Given his age and potential, it may be hard to convince the Turkish club to sell. However 15 million euros and the pull of Barcelona should do the trick.

7. Thomas Müller
Of all the names on this list, Müller is likely the least realistic transfer to go through. He has become an established regular at his boyhood club Bayern Munich but there are a glut of attacking midfielders in the side which may force his hand. Also consider that Barcelona are rumored to be selling a similar player, right-winger Alexis Sanchez, to Juventus. While Sanchez is a great player who has been in fantastic form this season, Müller would clearly be an upgrade.

OUT:

Cesc Fabregas
While his talent is undisputed, Fabregas has been a luxury for Barcelona this year, being deployed in more of a utility role. Manchester United has been reported to be lining up a £50million bid for the midfielder, which ought to convince Barcelona to sell in order to raise funds for other parts of the squad.

Alex Song
Arsenal has been rumored to be interested in making a move for their former player. If Barcelona could get back 15 million euros for a player whom they hardly use, it would be good business for both sides.

While Barcelona has been in a miniature crisis, there is no need to panic. As other teams throughout Europe have shown, with shrewd spending and intelligent sales, they can be back on top in no time.
