One more thing. I’ll give you a perfect analogy. This would be exactly like a football analyst claiming that Apoel Nicosia is better than Barca & Real Madrid if they somehow managed to knock out Real in the CL quarterfinal. The gulf in class between Chelsea on one side & Barca / Real on the other is not as large, but absolutely huge. I know that many people judge just based on the final score, but I expect better from people who claim to be football analysts.

I agree that always agreeing would be boring, but like I said it’s one thing to have a different opinion & quite another is to claim that Chelsea is better than Barcelona and Real Madrid based on this this 2-leg affair in which they were completely dominated & reserved to the “pack the box, kick it long to Drogba” strategy that unbelievably enough worked because they had an incredible amount of luck on their side. If you completely agree with Kartik your knowledge of football is on the same level as his. Both of you are completely delusional & are inhaling EPL marketing without thinking at all. Barcelona was the only team that played football in this tie out possessing Chelsea about 80-20% over 2 legs & outshooting them about 50-12. As far as actual shots on target Chelsea managed to score on all 3 decent ones they had. Their only other official shot on target came from their own half! Chelsea did what they could against a much superior opponent & had unbelievable amount of luck on their side because normally Barca puts chances like that away. This tie could’ve easily be over after game 1 in which on any other day Barca would score 4 or 5 goals. I’m not sure what game you guys were watching & every other top football podcast analysts agreed with my opinion. Even the analysts that gave Chelsea credit for their defending never said anything remotely as ridiculous as claiming that Chelsea is a better team. Rubin Kazan also beat Barca at Camp Nou in last year’s CL. You didn’t see anyone in their right mind claiming that it means they’re a better club. Just because your podcast’s name is EPL Talk doesn’t mean you have to be so incredibly biased towards the EPL. Kartik’s & your opinion that Chelsea is better than Barca is not just different. It’s so completely disconnected from reality that it destroys your credibility as football analysts. I don’t care if you disagree with me, but I expect at least a modicum of objectivity.

I haven’t listened to your pod since before the WC when you had some great guests on. The main reason is Kartik. Decided to check out this episode because I was curious what your reaction to Chelsea knocking out Barca was. To my dismay I discovered that Kartik is still on the show and just 2 min in he reminded me why I don’t listen to your pod but ludicrously stating that from the start of the season he thought Chelsea were as good as Barca and Real & that they should’ve also won the EPL this season if they weren’t mismanaged. Now I’m totally fine with people having different opinions on things, but that statement completely invalidates Kartik as a football analyst and makes me wonder if he has a drug problem. Kartik is either completely delusional, has zero understanding of football or is stating completely nonsensical opinions to attract attention to himself. Someone please tell him that talking loudly and stating something as fact doesn’t mean you actually have any knowledge on the subject. Kartik should switch to covering a sport he actually knows something about. Tuning back out.

Ranndino, thanks for the feedback. I vehemently disagree with your comments that Kartik is delusional, has zero understanding of football and is stating nonsensical opinions. The opposite is quite true. But he’s opinionated, which all good pundits are. Sometimes you agree with them, sometimes you don’t. If we all agreed on all topics, life would be incredibly boring.

For the record, Kartik’s analysis of Chelsea is spot on in my opinion. They beat Barcelona, and if they played like that throughout the season when they were horribly mismanaged by AVB, they could be competing for the title.

Thanks for getting it out. It was a special day for all of soccer/football. The game will go down as a classic in my mind. I still have to think the EPL is down this year but that’s another story.

The final now is sure to be special. No pun intended.

PS. Kartik let’s see a picture of your dog!
