Dissent is for losers (EPL Talk Review Podcast)

Games come thick and fast at this point in the season. The pressure can often be too much to take. It seems to be increasing and showing more as Man City begin to crumble under the pressure. Long term demise or short-term blip? Both will decide the title and rivalry outcomes this season.

The league seems to have taken a profound shift towards ‘decided’ as we hurtle towards the end of the season. Relegation looks more certain for Wolves, whilst nerves are getting the better of other sides. Who is destined to stay up or go down?

The uncertainty doesn’t sit well in the modern business of football. Not least with Roberto Mancini and his back-room staff. But it was all they had, Mario can’t be super every week. By contrast United look to be gaining strength and momentum. Does the win this week guarantee them the title? I have been a big fan of Kartik’s for years now but for some reason he was particularly splendid on this podcast. I disagree with his opinions from time to time but I think he is the absolute gem of the EPLtalk podcast. His knowledge and insight is every bit as good as Marcotti, Lowe and Honigstein. I wonder if other listeners realize just how good we have it.

By the way, whoever was typing during the podcast needs to mute their mic or be conscious of that. Gratefully, it subsided after the first 10 minutes but it was getting close to being not listenable. Outside of that, good podcast this week. Thanks for putting in the effort to produce a great discussion, EPL talk always makes me look forward to my Monday morning commute to work. =)

To answer Kartik’s question, we [Arsenal fans] don’t react to Kolo Toure’s transfer because he was a loyal servant, served the club for a long time and was actually loved by the fans. We also recognize that Gallas (who we despise) played a huge role in his departure. Clichy? We recognize that he had stalled with us; he needed a change, as did we. Vieira? I don’t know of any fans angry at him for moving to City. I know a few who wish he would swap City’s backroom staff for ours though. The other two? They very obviously moved for the money, so there.

Also, a plea (again to Kartik): do not assume Piers Morgan’s utterances to speak for all Arsenal fans. He’s an Arsenal fan hated even by Arsenal fans.

      Hi Eddy,

Great answer and thanks for the clarification. It’s difficult to take with Viera uh? I see a lot of anger towards him on Twitter, but that doesn’t mean people hate him. It can be a place for over reaction sometimes.

Piers Morgan, well…the less said the better.

      Cheers,

      Laurence
