Another Premier League Derby Weekend (EPL Talk Podcast Weekend Preview)

It’s another weekend of derbies in the Premier League — everything from Chelsea against Arsenal to Spurs versus QPR. While we’re not expecting another 6-1 result, Jesse Chula and The Gaffer discuss the mid-week Carling Cup results as well as look ahead to gameweek 10 of the English Premier League.

There’s even time for a post-preview discussion about football shirts, Why Always Me and more.

Don’t forget to add your opinion in the comments section below regarding whether you’re for — or against — players getting yellow carded for taking off their shirts after they score a goal.

Anton Ferdinand is only looking for attention. His style of play can not, and never will create headlines, his lies will however. I don’t believe that Evra was racially abused either. The french FA branded this same player a liar during the last world cup. I don’t deny that racism exists in the real world, but we must remember that these are millionare elitists, far removed from the real world. Terry is a bag of trouble, and his form is not what it once was.
But who is Anton Ferdinand anyway? a very average player like all of the QPR side. Back to the lower leagues for you. The notion that only white players can be racist is laughable, when it is the black players that think in terms of race all of the time. Anton Ferdinand is a cry baby, but at least he has brave Rio{Terry’s rival} to support his lies.

Anton is a liar! He either heard it or he didn’t. All of a sudden he has ” strong feelings” and will “wait until the inquiry is concluded”. Was he not fined a few years back for telling lies? Another point I like to make is this. Black people are just as guilty of saying equally disparaging things about white people. Why isn’t their a huge uproar then??? By the way, I am black

Well, if he was using racial slurs, I care. And if he wasn’t, then I couldn’t give a rat’s ass. There’s a big difference.

Another good podcast. I’m happy to hear that Lawrence is returning, which isn’t to say that you did a bad job, Gaffer. You did a great job, and I think a foursome of Lawrence, Kartik, Jesse & the Gaffer would be the podcast dream team. It’s just that we lost Richard last year and I was afraid the same thing might have happened with Lawrence. The key to a good podcast, imo, is building that relationship with the listeners, and keeping a consistent lineup goes a long way towards doing that.

Cheers. And thanks for doing these. I realize they are free to me and no doubt a lot of work, so they are appreciated.

p.s. David Luiz is a bad defender. But he’s very good going forward and he’s very strong, so that makes him a good player. But he’s not someone I’d count on for stabilizing my back line.

Thanks for the kind words JC. I enjoyed stepping in for Laurence, but it’ll be good to have him back since he’s developed a great rapport and chemistry with the co-hosts and the listeners.

      Cheers,
      The Gaffer

i just wanted to say that i think Anton Ferdinand is a liar. Either come out and say that John Terry racially abused you or didn’t abuse you. simple as that. if anyone, it’s Ferdinand who needs to be the most clear about what was really said to him. I personally think he’s lying. What a way to disgrace the captain of England. I’m sure Joey Barton had a part in it caused by his resentment and still not being part of the England set-up. Well, Barton, you ain’t good enough to play at that level, ok?? You’re good for Newcastle and QPR but you don’t have what it takes to be an international football player. If you was playing, you’d be sent off for a reckless tackle and England would be down to 10 men.

If you can read lips you’d know Terry did in fact say some pretty shameful things.

Bosingwa and Evans should both be available for selection this weekend. Both were given one game suspensions, which they served during the last Carling Cup round.

violent conduct = 3 game suspension (Drogba)

denial of clear goal scoring opportunity = 1 game suspension (Bosingwa, Evans)

That being said, Jonny Evans probably shouldn’t get his hopes up.
